Percy thought that his head might explode.Â
He didnât know how he was still walking, honestly. His mom died, he killed aâ no, theâ Minotaur, all the Greek myths were real and his dad was one of them, and now he had to deal with that freak accident with Clarisse and the toilets.Â
At least he would be ready next time she tried to beat him up. Percy had been the new kid enough to know there would be a next time.
All he could do was stare at the Minotaur horn in his hands, the only sign that what happened outside the border was real. The horn in his hands and the hole in his heart.Â
Percy swallowed the lump in his throat. Heâd been thrown into the deep end, and the only thing on his mind was when he would start to drown.Â
âHey.â Percy looked up to see the counselor heâd met earlier with AnnabethâLuke. He tossed a ziploc bag at him and he caught it, taking a moment to look at what was in it.Â
âI stole you some toiletries from the camp store,â he explained. âThought it might make you feel more at home.âÂ
ââŠThanks.â He didnât know if Luke was joking, but the damage had already been done. And it was the nicest thing someone had done for him so far. He set it down next to his Minotaur shoebox. âIs this the best that it gets?âÂ
Lukeâs lips quirked up in a slight smile. âFor now. Weâre a little crowded, if you couldnât tell.âÂ
âJust a little bit.â Percy stood up from his sleeping bag and worked out the knot in his shoulder. âWhereâs your bed? Assuming you have one.âÂ
âI couldnât wrangle all these cats without some back support,â he said, and he pointed to a bed in the corner. It was the only one on its own without a bunk, and he had a fair amount of decorations. Counselor privileges, he figured. Percy walked over, Luke trailing behind him.Â
âNice place,â he said. Percy picked up the Yankeeâs cap on his bedside table and nodded as he looked back at him. âNice taste.âÂ
âItâs for Annabeth,â Luke said. âShe wanted us to match.âÂ
Percy nodded again in approval. âGood taste for both of you.â
Luke had various other things around â an alarm clock knocked over next to the baseball cap, a huskie sticker on the wall half-scraped off, a poster for an album he didnât recognize.Â
But the thing that caught his eye was a polaroid hanging on the wall, surrounded by a smattering of others varying in size.Â
The first one had to be an old pictureâLuke didnât have his scar, and the biggest smile stretched across his face. He had a girl close with an arm slung around her waist, and she mightâve been smiling even more than Luke. A bright energy emanated around her, something that must have transferred through the picture, because Percy found himself feeling a little better just looking at her. He wondered if she was a camper.Â
His eyes flicked to the next picture, which was another one of Luke and that girl. They were both laughing as she tried to put a blue hat on Lukeâs head, and he protested with a hand on her wrist. They were in the forefront of a baseball game, Percy noticed.
There were other pictures, tooâLuke, a girl dressed all punk, and what looked like a young version of Annabeth, most notablyâbut a majority of them were either Luke and that girl, or the girl all on her own. In every single one, she beamed brighter than the sun.Â
Percy pointed at the picture of Luke and the girl at the baseball game, his curiosity getting the better of him. âWhoâs that?â
That seemed to catch Luke off-guard, his lips parting for a moment as if he wanted to say something. It barely took him any time to get back on track, but Percy found himself frowning.Â
âThatâsâŠâ Luke cleared his throat, wet his lips, shook his head. âA friend. A very good friend.â
âDoes she go here?â Percy asked.Â
âShe did.âÂ
He frowned. âWhere is she, then?âÂ
âPercyââ Lukeâs voice was strained, but he didnât really notice as he went on.Â
âI didnât see her around,â he continued, âand you look pretty close.âÂ
Luke blinked a couple times, and Percy swore he could see the telltale glimmer of tears starting in his eyes. A muscle worked in his jaw, and suddenly Percy was worried that heâd said something horribly wrong. He had a talent for that, it seemed.Â
Fortunately, he was saved by the bellâconch shell?âand something like relief flooded through Lukeâs expression. Tension still coiled in his body.Â
âCome on,â he said, that camp counselor smile coming back as he put his hand on Percyâs shoulder and guided him away from the enclave. âThat means dinnerâs about to start.â
Percyâs frown deepened as curiosity won out again. âWas she yourââ
âYou donât wanna be late,â Luke continued, ignoring his attempt. âI assume youâre pretty hungry after two days spent out?â
Well, that only made him want to push harder. But Percy figured he wouldnât get anything out of himâespecially not now.Â
ââŠYeah,â Percy said. âStarving.â
An odd look flickered across his face, but again, it only lasted for a second before he was back to normal. He cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled, âEleven! Fall in!âÂ
Percy was at the back of the line by virtue of him being the new kid, and he found himself looking back at that picture of Luke and the girl. He didnât know why, but something drew him to her. Before Percy could think about it more, the line was moving and his growling stomach drew his attention away.Â
He would have plenty of time to ask Luke about it later.Â
Or rather, ask him and piss off the only person whoâd tried to be his friend so far.Â
âŠGods.Â
Maybe he was going to drown sooner than he thought.Â
-
âLukeââÂ
âNo!âÂ
âLuke, please!âÂ
âAnnabeth will kill me if she knowsââÂ
âShe wonât know!âÂ
âAlright, alrightâ stay still, you two!âÂ
Your mother laughed from behind the camera as you and Luke fought with each other, you trying your damnedest to get your Red Sox cap on his head as he tried his damnedest to stop you. The frantic laughter on both sides made it a little difficult for either of you to succeed in your quest, but eventually, you got the rock up the hill and the hat on his head.Â
âTake the picture, Mom!â you exclaimed, pulling Luke even closer by his arms so he couldnât get it off. âI need the proof!âÂ
âI knew this was a bad idea,â Luke groaned, staring at the camera as you wrapped your arm around his side and leaned into him. He could already imagine your victorious smile, brighter than the sun beating down on them in the stadium, and just the thought of it made one of his own flit across his lips.Â
âOh, shut up, Castellan,â you said. âYou chose to come to this game. Everyoneâs gonna know youâre a Red Sox fan now.â
âYou said you wouldnât tell her!â Luke defended, wrenching his arms free of your control to take the hat off his head. âI donât even care about baseball!âÂ
âYou care so much about it,â you said cloyingly, âand youâre ride or die for the Boston Red Sox.âÂ
âIf you say a single wordââÂ
âOkay, kids!â Your mother pointed at the seats next to her. âThe gameâs about to startâyou can keep arguing, but only if you sit down so I can see.âÂ
âSorry, Mom.â You grinned at her as you pulled Luke over to your seatsâthey were a step up from nosebleeds, but they were the ones closest to the balcony so you could at least peer over the railing down to the diamond.
âItâs alright, sweetheart.â She glanced at Luke with a smile, and he could really see where you got it from. âWeâve gotta make him a fan somehow.âÂ
âI guess I can live with the brand.â Luke set the cap back on your head once you were seated, purposefully pulling the brim a little over your eyes, and he smiled at you. âEven though it looks better on you, anyways.âÂ
âYou just donât have what it takes to be a Red Sox fan in the heart of Yank territory,â you mused, pushing the hat back up so you could see. âItâs fine.âÂ
Luke rolled his eyes, but he could hardly bite back his smile.Â
âI am glad you came, though,â you said, glancing back at him. âIâm glad you came with me in the first place. This is gonna be the best semester.â
âThanks for having me,â Luke said. âItâs⊠itâs been a while since Iâve left camp.âÂ
âFingers crossed for no monster attacks, eh?â You held up your hand. âAt least, not during the game. I could live with it happening any other time.âÂ
âDonât speak it into existence,â your mom said. âWeâre going to have a monster-free school year.âÂ
To humor her, you made a claw over your heart and pushed out. She hummed in satisfaction, and you looked over at Luke. âItâs gonna be fine.âÂ
âYeah,â he said. âBecause two kids like us arenât gonna draw any attention.âÂ
âOh, I know we will,â you said. âBut I know itâll be fine.âÂ
Luke frowned. âHow can you be so sure?âÂ
You shrugged with a smile. âIâve got you.â
And in that moment, he was thankful for the freakish heat that honestly made no sense in the springâat least it covered up any sign of what your words did to him.Â
Luke thought you were joking when you asked him if he wanted to come back home with you for the school year. He didnât know why you wanted to go back in the first place, being a Big Three kid that apparently had a death wish, but the thought of him leaving camp was almost inconceivable.Â
Even after you assured him you werenât joking, he still wasnât sure. He was on the run with you for three years, thenâŠÂ
Well, he couldnât think about it for too long. But Luke had been on the outskirts of regular society for so long, doing nothing but fighting for his life, that he didnât know if he could actually function at a normal school.
But it felt right for you two to get some normal time together after you were separated for so long. It took him a semester to decide, but one day during your usual Iris message conversations, he told you heâd love to spend the rest of the year in Boston with you. Luke still remembered the grin you wore, your disbelieving but victorious cheers, the apology you yelled back at your mother for your noise.Â
Luke watched you as you talked with your mom, discussing Bostonâs chances and player statistics and baseball jargon he didnât think heâd ever understand, and he knew he would sit through a thousand Red Sox games if it meant he would get to keep seeing your smile.
You must have felt his eyes on you, because you glanced over at him. âAre you okay?âÂ
Luke smiled. Gods, he was so glad you were here.Â
âNever better.âÂ
-
âThat one nearly got me,â Luke said.Â
Percy huffed as he picked up his sword from the groundâhe was pretty sure he would officially lose his mind if Luke disarmed him with that stupid move one more time. One benefit to the Hermes cabin being too scared to associate with him after getting claimed was that he wasnât making a fool out of himself in front of other people.Â
âMaybe I can only beat you when I pour water on myself,â he said.Â
Luke chuckled as he took a bottle from the cooler on the side and held it up. âWanna try?âÂ
He shook his head. âI think my arms will fall off if I keep going with you.âÂ
He tipped his shoulder. âFair.âÂ
Percy stared at the ground as Luke gathered himself, trying to put the free range thoughts roaming around his head in order. It didnât help that heâd gained a million questions after Poseidon claimed him, and it didnât help that thereâs been a newest addition to his dream last night.Â
He still felt strange asking Luke about it, but he had to know more about her. Percy didnât know why it felt like his mission to find out who this mysterious girl was, or why he felt that strange connection to her. Maybe it was the way Luke acted whenever he brought her up, maybe it was that sheâd popped up in his dream next to him at the very end, maybe it was just plain old curiosity.Â
âIâm not supposed to be alive,â Percy said, breaking the silence. âI could die at any time in a bunch of different horrible ways. So will you tell me more about that girl on your wall?â Â
Again, Luke seemed to be caught off guard by it. Percy heard the crunch of plastic as his hand clenched ever so slightly around the bottle, and he tried to cover it up with an arched eyebrow. âWhy do you want to know so badly?âÂ
He shrugged. What was he supposed to say?Â
âIâm curious,â he decided.Â
Luke huffed a dry laugh before he took a sip of water, and he stared off into the distance for a while. He did a lot of staring whenever this girl was brought up. They looked like they were best friends in those pictures, but maybe whatever they had ended badly. And if she was a demigod tooâŠ
Well, it would make sense why he didnât want to talk about her.Â
âYou know that phrase about curiosity?â Luke asked.Â
âAnd how it killed the cat?âÂ
He nodded, drinking some more. âIt goes double for demigods.âÂ
âEverything else wants to kill me,â Percy said. âSo curiosityâs gonna have to get in line.âÂ
Lukeâs laugh was a little more genuine this time, and he shook his head. âI guess I can tell you a little about her. You actually probably have a right to know.âÂ
âIs she a half-blood?â Percy asked immediately.Â
He nodded. âYeah.âÂ
âWhoâs her parent?âÂ
Luke capped his water bottle and looked at Percy for a good, long moment. His face glowed in the warm afternoon sun, his scar cast in a softer light than usual. The scar used to unnerve him, but heâd gotten used to it after weeks staring at it during sword fighting.Â
âShe was a child of Poseidon, Percy,â he said. âJust like you.âÂ
Percy felt short of breath, like Luke had just knocked his sword out of his hand and shoved him to the ground. But he stood on his own two legs that somehow still worked, and Luke hadnât moved.Â
He had a sister?Â
âI have a sister?âÂ
ââŠHad,â Luke corrected. âShe⊠she died a few years back.âÂ
A vice latched onto Percyâs heart. He was still having a hard time breathing. No wonder Luke always used past tense when he was talking about her.Â
He had a sister, he wasnât alone, but he was because she was dead. And if Luke was one of her friends, that meant she died young.Â
Gods.Â
âWhat about their oath?â Percy asked, trying to ignore the aching in his chest. âIâm already on thin ice for my whole existing thing. How did Poseidon get away with two kids so close to each other?âÂ
Luke shrugged. âIâve never known why gods do things. Her mother was a great woman, thoughâI could see what drew Poseidon to her against the oath.âÂ
One half of Percy wanted to ask every question that kept popping into his head. The other side of him wanted to break down and cry.Â
âHow did you meet her?âÂ
âWe ran into each other when we were both young,â he said. âBoth child runaways, both demigods, both New Englandersâwe decided to rough it out on the road together. Couldnât be any worse than doing it on our own.â
Percy tried to imagine it. A young Luke and a younger version of that girlâmaybe Percyâs ageâliving together in the wilderness and fighting monsters. Surviving off of nothing but their wit and skill, facing death each day before theyâd even reached middle school.Â
âIt⊠it didnât happen then, did it?â he asked hesitantly.Â
Luke shook his head. âCouple years later. All we did was watch each otherâs backs out there.âÂ
Percy couldnât help himself. âWhat happened to her?â Â
âThe same thing that happens to everyone,â Luke said flatly. âThereâs a reason Iâm the oldest one here.âÂ
âThat doesnât make it better,â Percy insisted. âItâ it makes it worse, Luke. You see that, right?â Â
Luke stared at his empty water bottle then tossed it back into the cooler. When his gaze met Percyâs, he was shocked by how⊠tired he looked. Beyond exhaustedâbone-weary. Percy wanted to say more, but he didnât get the chance.Â
âThis isnât good conversation,â Luke said, âand itâs getting late. You should hit the showers before dinner.âÂ
The sun still beat down on them, bright and angry in the sky, but Percy provided no argument. He had a lot to think about.Â
Before they went their separate ways, Percy stopped and looked back at him. âIâm sorry sheâs gone, Luke.âÂ
Lukeâs gaze went unfocused for a moment, his eyes growing glossy. âSo am I.âÂ
-
Percy sat on the floor of the Hermes cabin in the corner that used to be his, staring at his meager belongings. He had to decide what to take on his quest, which was made easier by the fact that he hardly had anything to his name. Things could always be worse, though. At least he would have a change of clothes.Â
He shouldâve been doing this in his own cabin, but it felt too empty, too suffocating in its silence. Eleven was still more familiar. He heard the door open and saw Luke walk in, and his eyes lit up when he saw Percy.Â
âHey,â he said. âI wanted to see you before you left. Howâre you feeling pre-quest?âÂ
âLike the worldâs about to end,â he said.Â
Lukeâs lips twitched into a smile as he sat on the bed across from Percy. âUnderstandable. It kinda is.âÂ
âItâs just overwhelming.â Percy shoved the unfolded clothes into his backpack. âI have to clear mine and my dadâs names and get Zeusâs bolt back, or else war will start. No pressure at all.âÂ
âYou were chosen for a reason,â Luke said. âYou may not see it, Percy, but youâve improved a lot since you got here. If anyone can do this, I think itâs you.âÂ
Percy looked up at him, and he was reminded of the way their last conversation went. He was asking before he could really stop himself.Â
âI could die on this quest and never see you again,â Percy said. âSo could you tell me more about my sister before I go?â Â
Luke smiled wistfully and sighed. âYou really wonât let this go, will you?âÂ
âItâs not really something you just let go,â he said. âBesides, I⊠I saw her in my dream last night.âÂ
Lukeâs smile faded. âYou did?â Â
Percy nodded. âFor a split second, but I know it was her. I felt the same way I did whenever I looked at her pictures. And⊠itâs the second time sheâs shown up.âÂ
He let out a long sigh and shook his head, his gaze trailing off to the wall. He always looked so much older when he talked about this girl, like he was a war veteran reminiscing on his lost love. And from what heâd gathered, it might not have been too far off.Â
âI told you we ran together when we were young,â he said, and Percy nodded. âWe were both nine, and it shouldâve been terrible, but she had a way of making everything better. Always found the bright side of things, was always able to make me laugh.âÂ
âShe was from Massachusettsâright in the middle of Boston.â Luke chuckled as he looked at Percy. âHuge Red Sox fan.âÂ
Percy grimaced. âWe all make mistakes.âÂ
Luke smiled, though it faded a bit. âWe got separated for a while, but we found each other again when I got to camp. Things were more peaceful than they are now, so sheâd been claimed at camp pretty quickly. I figure Poseidon wanted her to have the protection of him openly standing behind her after what happened.âÂ
He frowned. âWhat do you mean, âwhat happenedâ?âÂ
Luke shook his head. âThat would be an awful story to send you off on.âÂ
Percy wanted to protest, but he didnât. Luke was probably rightâPercy didnât want to make him relive it and then have to go on a death quest right after.
âA happier part, then,â he suggested.
âShe ran away from home as a kid to protect her mom, but now that she had an idea of what she was doing, she started going back to school. She invited me to stay with her during the school year one year, and I accepted. Thatââ Lukeâs throat bobbed, and the other hand clenched into a fistâ âthat was when she died.âÂ
In his stunned silence, Luke got up and went over to his alcove. He pulled the drawer open on his bedside table and pulled out a neatly folded piece of paper. It mustâve been folded and crumpled a million other times in messier ways by all the creases he could see, but when Luke opened it, he could see handwriting all over the front.Â
A letter.Â
âWe Iris messaged each other constantly while she was at school,â he said, âand we wrote back and forth when we couldnât. This was the last letter she sent me.âÂ
Percyâs first instinct was to say he wouldnât be able to read it, but he realized that he didnât really care. These were words that his sister wroteâhe would sit here the rest of the day forcing sentences to make sense if that was what it took.Â
So he took the letter when Luke offered it.Â
To the one and only Luke Castellan,Â
My mom said yes! After a very long interrogation (she now knows basically everything about you) and a million promises that you would be as careful as possible and that you were good enough at sword fighting to take down anything that could come after us, she said you can spend the year here. We spent a couple hours every day making my momâs study into a guest room, so you have a place to stay.
Iâm an idiot that didnât bring enough drachmas so thatâs why I have to send this letterâhopefully it gets to you soon enough, because weâre gonna come get you a week before my winter break is over. Mom is letting me drive down because she says I have to get my permit soon. It makes sense that my first big test is getting to you. If we donât make it, itâs because we died in a fiery crash.Â
Just kidding. Iâm a great driver. But tell me some of your favorite songs when you reply and Iâll burn a CD for the rideâI figured out how to use LimeWire. Oh, and throw in a couple drachmas with the envelope so I can Iris message you next time. I miss your face and your voice, and my hand is cramping up writing all of this.Â
But this is so exciting! I canât wait to introduce you to all my friends at school, and show you my favorite places in the city, and make you into a Red Sox fan. And you can come to my soccer gamesâ Iâm the greatest forward there is.Â
Jokes aside, Iâm going to make sure you have the best time. Weâll spend every second together, Luke. Weâre gonna make up for the time we lost.Â
I canât wait to see you again.
Your hurricane. Â
It took Percy a long time to get through it with the words swimming all over, and it didnât help that his vision had grown blurry.Â
Tears, he realized as he blinked, and he did it again to make sure they wouldnât fall. He couldnât cry in front of Luke, not over a girl he didnât even knowâeven if she was his sister. But maybe he was grieving thatâthe fact that he would never get to know her.Â
âGod, man. Iâ Iâm sorry.â Percy couldnât think of anything else to say. âShe sounds like she was great.âÂ
Luke couldnât even manage a smile this time as he stared at the wall. Percy was surprised he could even talk to him about it.Â
âShe was,â he murmured. âYou wouldâve liked her. And gods,â this time, a bit of a smile broke through despite it all, âshe would have loved a little brother.âÂ
âIâm gonna make her proud on this quest,â Percy vowed. âIâm gonna clear our dadâs name for her.â
Something in Lukeâs gaze had changedâsadness, almost regret. âYouâre a good kid, Percy. I hope your quest doesnât change that.âÂ
I hope I come back alive, he wanted to say. But given the topic matter, he didnât. Percy carefully folded the letter back up and handed it to Luke.Â
âThank you for telling me about her, man,â Percy said. âI⊠I know it canât be easy.â
Luke let out a shuddering breath as he stared at the closed letterâPercy wondered how many times he must have sat in this same position, reading her words. âNo better way to honor her memory than helping her brother.â He glanced at Percy. âI see a lot of her in you.âÂ
Heâd been wondering if he had anything in common with her. Percy felt a sudden flare of anger shoot through himâit wasnât fair that she was dead. Poseidon was a god, and she was a teenager. He should have saved her.Â
Percyâs mouth was drier than a desert. A part of him wanted to curl up in a ball and sob over the sister he never got the chance to know, but the other part of him knewâfrom what little Luke had told him about herâthat she wouldnât want him to.Â
âI should get going,â Percy said, standing up from the floor. âWe have to leave for the quest soon, and Annabeth and Grover are probably wondering where I am, andâŠâÂ
Percy trailed off, and Luke nodded in understanding. He turned around and took one of the photos off the wallâone of you alone in the middle of a park, wearing a bucket hat and absolutely beaming.Â
âYou deserve to have a part of her with you,â he said. âFor good luck.âÂ
He felt himself choking up, and he pushed it down as he accepted the photo. âThanks, man. It means a lot.â
âGood luck, Percy,â Luke said. âYouâve got a lot of people rooting for you.â
Percy found himself studying the picture of you once he made it outside, trying to memorize your face. With your wide, infectious smile that emanated pure sunlight, he could have mistaken you for an Apollo kid. But when he looked at you, he got that same warmth that he felt every time he imagined his father.Â
âI wonât let you down,â he murmured. âI promise.âÂ
-
After sleeping in his train seat for half the day, Percy vowed to never complain about his bed in Cabin Three again. He was gonna be going down to the Underworld with permanent cricks in his neck.Â
Grover was still sound asleepâPercy envied him for how easily it came to him in the worst conditionsâbut thankfully, Annabeth wasnât. Her gaze was focused on the view as their train chugged along.Â
Percy cleared his throat in a flawless attempt at getting her attention, and it worked.Â
âYouâre awake,â she said.Â
âUnfortunately.â Percy sighed. âHow much longer do you think itâll be?âÂ
âAnother day, at least,â she said. âAnd weâve got a layover in St. Louis.âÂ
âSt. Louis,â he hummed. âNice.âÂ
They sat in silence for a whileâthere wasnât much to talk about when they were coming off of twoâ or was it three, now?ânear-death experiences. But eventually, Annabeth cleared her throat, taking a page from his book, and it worked again.Â
âThereâ thereâs probably something you should know,â Annabeth said, and that worked even better than clearing her throat. âYouâre not the only Big Three kid to come through Camp Half-blood lately.âÂ
âI know,â he said. âGrover and Luke explained it.âÂ
Her eyes widened slightly and she leaned forward in her seat. âLuke did?âÂ
ââŠYeah. You all already told me about Thalia.â Percy glanced away, suddenly feeling a chill in the train car. âLuke told me about my sister.âÂ
Annabeth went silent.Â
âItâs okay,â he said. âI kind of annoyed Luke until he told me. Doesnât really seem like a subject people at camp like to talk about.âÂ
âIâm just surprised he did,â she murmured. âThey were⊠they were close, Percy. Her death destroyed himâThalia and your sister. All of itâs complicated.â Â
âYeah,â he sighed, âI got some of that.âÂ
âI only knew her for a year at camp, but everyone loved her,â she said. âShe was nice. Popular. Always helped when she could, always had the biggest, most infectious smile on her face.â Annabeth looked down at her hands. âShe didnât deserve the fate she got.âÂ
Percy didnât think heâd ever grieved so much for someone he never knew. âBut her and Lukeâwere theyâŠ?âÂ
âYeah,â Annabeth said, âthey were a thing, later on.âÂ
That seemed to be all she wanted to say on the matter. Percy decided not to push.Â
âHow did you meet her?â he asked.Â
Annabethâs lips pressed into a thin line. âI met her on the day I thought I would die.â
-
For the first time in her life, Annabeth Chase couldnât think.Â
It had all happened so fast. One second she was running with Luke and Thalia and Grover, praying to her mother and any other gods that would listen to make the horde of monsters let up even a centimeter.
The next, sheâd collapsed on the ground, never so grateful to have grass and dirt and dust in her face. But she could hear Luke yelling, barely able to make it out in her delirious stateâshe didnât know when sheâd last had a sip of water, and theyâd been running for at least three milesâbut he sounded hysterical.Â
She remembered her last clear thought: they werenât going to make it.Â
But they had. They had, so why was Luke losing his mind?Â
Annabeth pulled herself up from the groundâhow long had she been bleeding out of those slashes on her arm?âand looked for the rest of her friends. Luke wasnât yelling anymore, instead arguing with someone she didnât recognize in a bright orange shirt. Groverâs furry legs trembled as he stared down the hill theyâd just gotten up, completely silent, and ThaliaâÂ
Where was Thalia?Â
Annabeth tried to get up but her legs gave out almost immediately, and steady arms caught her before she could fall to the ground again. Kind eyes served to ease some of her panicâshe was older than Annabeth, maybe around Luke or Thaliaâs age.Â
ThaliaâÂ
âHey, youâre okay,â the voice said, and Annabethâs attention was drawn back to you. âIâve got you.âÂ
âWhereâs Thalia?â she blurted out, because now she couldnât think of anything else.Â
Your brows creased and you glanced back down the hillâAnnabeth did too, and she saw Grover and Luke arguing with each other. Or rather, Luke was yelling at him as Grover anxiously hooked his hands through his hair.Â
âI donât know,â you said, âbut right now, I need to make sure youâre okay. Are you hurt?âÂ
Annabeth absentmindedly held up her arm, but she was only focused on her friends. Why wasnât Thalia with them? Why was Luke so upset?
You cursed under your breath in Ancient Greek as you cradled her arm, and you looked back down the hill. Annabeth could see at least half a dozen other kids.Â
âWeâve got two half-bloods and a satyr, one injured!â you yelled back. âGet Molly and Brayden!âÂ
âThree,â Annabeth found herself saying. âThereâs three half-bloodsââÂ
âAnnabeth!âÂ
Her head shot up at the sound of Luke calling her name as he bounded over, and her eyes widened at the blood steadily spidering across the fabric of his shirt.Â
âLuke, youâre hurtââÂ
âIâm fine,â he insisted. âItâs fine.âÂ
âWe have Apollo kids coming,â you said, looking up at him, still cradling Annabethâs arm. âWeâll get yââÂ
Your sentence stuck in your throat, and Annabeth could see tears welling in your eyes as your brows furrowed. She thought Lukeâs eyes might burst out of his skull as he stared at you, his lips parted but nothing coming out. Neither of you were able to form words.Â
When he finally did get something out, it was a single name. One Annabeth knew by heart, one that heâd mourned for years.Â
âLuke?â you whispered.Â
Before he had the chance to do anything, two teenagers got over the hill and called out your name, the same one Luke used. He always said you were dead, but you clearly werenât dead, because you were here and you had her arm in your grasp and while your hands were cold, they werenât cold enough to be deadâÂ
âMollyâs gonna take care of you,â you said, looking back at Annabeth and cutting off her inner dialogue. âSheâll get you to the infirmary and heal you up, okay?âÂ
âMy friendsââÂ
âTheyâre gonna be okay too,â you said. âI promise.âÂ
Annabeth looked up at Luke, and he nodded. âWeâll be with you soon, Annabeth. Weâ we have to talk about some things.âÂ
So she went with Molly down the hill, and Annabeth put pressure on her bleeding wound when she told her toâit had started to sting like hell now that her adrenaline was fading.Â
She looked back just in time to see you and Luke share the tightest hug ever.Â
The hug of two people who realized they werenât seeing ghosts, Annabeth thought.Â
-
You bolted up in bed, eyes wide and your chest heaving as you rapidly sucked in air. Your fingers found purchase in your bedsheets, desperate for something familiarâit took a second for you to recognize your surroundings, that you werenât in an endless void, but your childhood bedroom offered little comfort. Â
You ran a hand over your forehead, damp with sweat, as you tried to calm down. Your breathing slowed, but you couldnât shake that awful feeling that hung over you in your sleep.Â
Your nightmares were getting worse, you knew that much. That raspy, demented voice used to be a rarity, and now it appeared every night. You could usually deal with your nightmares, but the sense of absolute dread that voice and the pit fostered in you was too much. You hadnât managed to sleep through the night once since you came home for the school year.
You could deal with the monstersâto you, this was the worst part of your godly blood.
A knock rattled on the door out of nowhere, and you nearly jumped out of your skin. The only thing that calmed you down was the thought that monsters didnât knock.Â
âCome in,â you croaked, your throat drier than a desert.Â
Thankfully, a monster hadnât come to make your night even more miserable. Luke stood in the doorway, his eyebrows creased in concern, messy curls hanging just above his eyes. He wore the Red Sox t-shirt youâd bought for him at the game you dragged him to, and in your addled state, you didnât even think to tease him about it.Â
âAre you okay?â He shouldâve been as disoriented as you, but his alerted eyes told a different story.Â
You could only think of one thing. âHow did you know?âÂ
Lukeâs lips parted for a moment, as if he hadnât even considered it. âI could just feel it.â
You managed a smile despite every atom in your body screaming at you. âI think that means you can come in.âÂ
He closed the door behind him, and you shifted over in your bed to make room for him. There wasnât much in a twin, but you made it work. Lukeâs weight pressed into the mattress, making you adjust your position, and it was more comforting than any amount of blankets.Â
âYouâre so cold,â he murmured, laying the back of his hand against your arm. âHow do you live like that?âÂ
âBlame my dad,â you said. âIâve got water in my blood.âÂ
âI think thatâs probably a bad thing,â Luke said, and you knocked your shoulder into his with a huff.Â
âYou know what I mean.âÂ
Luke let his hand fall back in his lap, and as you brought your knees up to your chest, you pulled the covers with them.Â
âSo,â Luke said, glancing at you, âwhatâs got you awake at the witching hour?âÂ
âThe usual,â you mumbled.Â
âNightmares that might be prophetic?â he asked.Â
You made a lazy gesture with your hand. âBingo.âÂ
âThe worst sense of dread imaginable?âÂ
âBullseye.âÂ
âIâm sorry,â he said.Â
You shrugged. âItâs nothing I canât deal with.âÂ
âYou donât always have to put on a front, yâknow,â Luke said. You felt his eyes on you. âYou donât always have to be strong.âÂ
âIâm naturally strong,â you said with mock austerity. âComes with the god for a dad.âÂ
Luke chuckled and shook his head. âYou know what I mean.âÂ
âYeah,â you murmured.Â
You leaned into his side, fitting your head into the crook of his neck. Luke wrapped his arm around you, pulling you closer, and you let out a contented sigh.Â
That voice in your nightmares seemed so small when you had Luke.Â
âCan you stay?â you asked softly.Â
He didnât hesitate. âOf course.âÂ
âJust like old times,â you whispered.Â
âJust like old times,â he agreed.Â
Luke ran hot, and youâd never been more thankful for it as you fully settled into his side. Icy blood ran through your veins, and you let out a shaky sigh. You could hear his steady breathing, feel his heartbeat through his chest, and the anxiety from earlier began to steadily fade. You never felt safer than when you were with Luke.Â
There was something between youâyou werenât that stupidâbut you hadnât talked about it. With you and Luke, it was just⊠you and Luke. You didnât have to put a label to it.Â
How could you put a label to your relationship, when youâd spent your first few years together fighting for each day, and then the next few thinking the other was dead?Â
Maybe someday, you would talk about it. But for now, this was more than enough.Â
âDonât worry,â Luke murmured in your ear as your eyes began to droop. âIâm not gonna let anything happen to you.âÂ
And by the gods, you believed him.Â

Omg I love Persassy LOL. I was thinking maybe you could do an imagine where Percy knows about Luke and Reader but doesnât like it and sasses them all the time but so basically Luke and Reader are kind of having a âdate nightâ but in Lukeâs cabin and theyâre just like laying in his bed and stuff but the morning after, Percy is wondering the Reader is because the Reader is his half sister and like he goes the Lukeâs cabin to ask him where Reader is and he finds them asleep in the same bed and he gets mad and sassy and starts lecturing Reader and Luke while theyâre all confused because they just woke upđ€Łđ€Ł
omg yes i can totally do this

Percy was staring at you with an unpleasant look on his face as you stole glances at Luke from the Poseidon table.
âCan you not do that in front of my dinner?â
Luke met your eyes from across the room. He grinned at you and you smiled dreamily back at him. âDo what?â
âOgle him,â Percy said as though it was obvious.
You snapped your gaze to Percyâs. âIâm not ogling him.â
âYou so are. Please refrain,â he persisted.
âHow about you refrain from having an attitude?â you countered.
âThis attitude is your fault,â he sassed, flicking a pea at you.
You caught it before as it rolled off the table and flung it back at his face. He flinched as it hit him and it fell on the floor. âYouâre impossible.â
Percy shrugged. âYou love me.â
You didnât say anything. You would be lying if you denied it. Percy seemed to understand anyway, as he held back from sharing any thoughts about Luke for the rest of the meal.
If there was one thing you knew about your half-brother, it was that he was a little menace. He was always telling off your boyfriend for random things. These things mostly consisted of Lukeâs actions in hypothetical situations Percy had made up.
He was also always telling you that you were too good for Luke. You were sure he would say that about any guy you dated though, because Luke was probably the best guy around.
He was always nice to Percy, and he easily combatted his sass, which you honestly thought Percy secretly enjoyed.
Deep down, you knew Percy actually liked Luke and looked up to him a lot, not that he would ever admit it.
After campfire that night, Luke was at your cabin, swinging the door open and calling your name.
âWhat do you want?â Percy responded rudely.
âTake a guess,â Luke said, unbothered.
âPercy, watch your attitude,â you said, walking toward the door and giving Luke a quick kiss.
âBleh. Stop being nasty in here,â Percy objected.
âLucky for you, weâre leaving.â
âWhere are you going?â
You didnât answer him and let the door swing shut behind you as you left the cabin.
âY/n?â he called from inside.
Luke held your hand as you walked together to his cabin. Some of his siblings were asleep when you entered, and some of them let out a few teasing comments, but all of them were used to you sleeping there every once in a while.
âLights out,â Luke said, flipping the light switch. A few campers groaned in protest before collapsing onto their beds.
You climbed into Lukeâs bunk after him and he wrapped his arms around your body, pulling you into his chest. You relaxed into his touch, falling asleep quickly.
The next morning you were not awoken by the sun, but by your brother. âWell, well, well,â he said, standing over the bunk with his arms folded.
âPerce?â you said, sleep evident in your voice. âWhat are you doing here?â
âYou werenât in the cabin when I woke up, so I used my critical thinking skills, and here we are,â he explained.
Luke stirred next to you, taking his hand off of your hip to rub his eyes. âBaby? Has the conch blown yet?â
âYeah, thirty minutes ago. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. How irresponsible,â Percy scoffed.
âNext time, weâll sleep in our cabin, so you can wake us up at the right time,â you suggested.
Percy scrunched up his face in disgust. âAbsolutely not. I donât need to hear whatever weird stuff you freaks get up to. I need my beauty sleep, but you probably wouldnât understand that, Luke.â
âWhat is that supposed to mean?â Luke asked, offended.
âHurry up and get dressed. I hate sitting alone,â Percy demanded and left you and Luke alone in the cabin again.
You turned back into his warmth, refusing to get out of bed. Luke got the message, pulling the blanket up over you. Percy could survive one day without you at the table.

"That explains a lot"
pairing: luke castellan x reader, percy jackson x half sister!reader
genre: fluff
summary: a short little blurb where percy finds his older sister in comprising situation with his friend/mentor
warnings: kissing, persassy
~~~~~~~~~
A warm summer evening at Camp Half-Blood finds you and Luke Castellan stealing a quiet moment by the lake, in your hidden spot that the two of you have reserved for moments like this one, where your lips are attached.Â
Hidden by the shadows of the trees, you and Luke share an intimate embrace, lost in the magic of the moment. Unbeknownst to both of you, Percy Jackson, your younger half-brother, approaches the lakeside, unaware of your relationship.
As the moonlight dances on the water, Luke leans in, capturing your lips in a tender kiss. The world fades away, and for a brief moment, it's just the two of you. However, your stolen moment is abruptly interrupted when Percy, with a playful grin, stumbles upon the scene.
His eyes widened in surprise, the unexpected sight before him. Luke, realizing is slightly taken aback, releases you from the kiss, and the air becomes thick with a mixture of awkwardness and surprise. As you and Luke catch your breaths after being so unaware of the time, Percy blinks in disbelief. He stands there processing the scene before him as a thousand thoughts race through his mind.
After an awkward pause, you and Luke exchange sheepish glances, realizing the need for an explanation. Percy may technically only be your half brother, but as forbidden children with only each otherâs presence in cabin 3, the two of you share an incredibly close bond. Due to this fact, Luke was preparing himself to deal with the anger of his girlfriendâs younger brother.Â
Percy, breaking the silence, manages a grin, "Well, I guess that explains a few things." Despite the initial shock, Percy's acceptance surprises you, and he adds, "Just try not to make out in every secret spot at camp, okay?"
Laughter erupts, breaking the tension, and the three of you share a moment of camaraderie. Percy, though caught off guard, proves to be more understanding than expected.
That night as you and Percy were walking back to the Poseidon cabin, your younger brother decides to tease you about your newly-revealed relationship with the son of Hermes.
"Other than the fact that the sight of my sister locking lips with my mentor is permanently engraved in my brain, I'm happy for you y/n/n" he sincerely says with a teasing chuckle.
"What can I say, he's a really good kisser-" you say ruffling his curly blonde hair.
"STOP I don't want to hear any more of those details!!" Percy frantically interrupts.
 As you and Luke navigate the complexities of your relationship, Percy, the mischievous half-brother, becomes an unexpected source of support.
When Percyâs younger sister had joined the Seven on the Argo II, he hadn't expected to line up any boundaries. After all, why would any of the guys go after his baby sister. Even if she was only a year younger than him. However, that was until a day that had started like all the rest. Everyone had had breakfast that morning, gone over some plans, but when y/n subconsciously put her hair into a ponytail,
Percy looked up, âwhatâs that?â
Y/N froze as she locked eyes with her brother, âwhatâs what?â
He glanced around at everyone else. He raised an eyebrow, âon your neck?â
She nervously laughed, briefly looking towards the bewildered Jason, âoh, that?â she smiled, âI fell out of bed and hit my neck on my nightstand.â
âReally?â Percy crossed his arms, âwhen? That mustâve really hurt to have left two bruises.â
She nodded, puffing air out of her mouth, âyeah, it was yesterday. Let me tell you, it was a doozy.â
âIâm surprised you didn't mention before if it hurt that much.â
âWell, I, uh, forgot about it.â
âYou forgot about it?â he nodded, âdid you not, I don't know, look in a mirror?â
âYeah, I was having a bad hair day, so-â
âOh my gods,â Annabeth interjected, âyou guys are actually painful to listen to.â
Piper agreed, ây/n, who was it?â
She stuttered, looking at everyone. Excuses cluttered her mind, not one seeming good enough to tell her brother. She took a deep breath before speaking again, âmyself?â
âWhat the fuck?â
âIt was me.â
Everyoneâs eyes turned to Jason. Y/N eyes were torn between the two boys, she started wondering if Jason was actually going to be murdered right there and then.
âYou made out with my sister?â
The blond locked eyes with the daughter of Poseidon, âno- technically, yes, but not just that, I- uhm.â
âPercy,â she added.
âWhat do you mean, not just that?â
Jason shook his head, âI don't mean, you know, I just mean that it wasn't like a one time thing-â
âWhat?â
âPercy-â
âNot like that, oh my gods,â the son of Jupiter panicked.
âWhat do you mean by that, weather boy?â
âI-â
âIâm having his baby!â Y/N finally said. Everyone stared at her in shock. Both Jason and Percy had gone completely silent while the former tried to speak, but was at a loss for words.
âYou- what- but-â
She slowly nodded before bursting into laughter, âno, Iâm totally not, but you should see your faces.â
Percy held his forehead, âY/N.â
Jason let out a breath, âthat wasn't funny.â
âCome on, Jase,â she smiled, âit was kinda funny.â
âY/N, that was not at all funny,â her brother responded, trying to stifle a laugh, âas much as I hate to agree with the perv,â he sent a glare towards Jason.
Her smile dropped, âI was just trying to get you to listen to me,â she defended, âhave you even considered how I feel about this?â
âIâm just looking out for you,â he responded, âas your older brother, I know whatâs best.â
âOh my gods,â she exclaimed in disbelief, âyou're ridiculous, Iâm leaving.â She shook her head before running off to her room. She frowned as she thought about how her brother could be ignorant to her feelings. She crawled into her bed, wrapping herself in the covers. She tried to hold in tears as her anger grew. She wanted to scream and yell at her brother about how much the son of Jupiter meant to her.
The door creaked open, followed by a soft, âhey.â She didn't look up as she pretended to be asleep, âI know you're awake.â
She grumbled, âgo away, Perce.â
âI overreacted about you and Jason,â he admitted, âIâm sorry.â
She sat up, âyou don't get it.â
âI don't,â he nodded, âbut, itâs not like dadâs around a lot, Iâm the one who should be protecting you.â
âYou can protect me,â she added, âbut not from the boy I love.â
Percy raised his eyebrows, âyou love him?â
She sighed, âI really do.â
He looked away for a second, not speaking, âyou should be with him, y/n.â
âYou mean that?â
He nodded, âof course, but if he hurts you, Iâll make his shroud myself.â
She laughed, âokay, but I trust him not to.â
âGood,â he smiled, âIâll leave you alone now.â
Seconds after he left, a blond boy walked in, ây/n?â
She looked up at her boyfriend, grinning, âhi, baby.â
His cheeks turned pink at the nickname, âwhat did Percy say?â He asked as he sat down on her bed.
âHe's okay with us, as long as you don't hurt me,â she giggled.
He softly chuckled, âI won't,â he slowly moved a piece of hair behind her ear, âI love you.â
âThat's what I told him.â
The door opened again, âtimeâs up.â
They both looked up, âwhat?â she spoke.
âIâm okay with you two dating,â he turned his attention to Jason, âbut you still screwed my sister.â
âPercy!â
Hello, a request please, how does Leo react if he discovers that his girlfriend (reader) is a minor goddess, daughter of Poseidon and host (Percy goes into brother mode)
disclaimer that I haven't read the kane chronicles yet and don't feel like I really know enough to write about that so this will be more focused on the whole minor goddess thing bc I LOVE this ask.
You're a minor - and very new - goddess, so most people haven't even heard of you. Your dad is poseidon, and your mom is a sweetbay magnolia dryad, so your dad ended up entrusting you to watch over the coast, and everyone who lives there. Anywhere the water meets the land is your domain. It's a pretty niche job, but you have fun quietly tending to the plants and animals, all the little otters and beavers and water birds. you especially loved the long island sound near camp half blood. eventually you asked your dad if you could stay there, pretend to be a normal teenager for a while. he thought of your brothers, Percy and Tyson, and decided that was a good idea. So he talked to Chiron and sent you over, informing Percy he has another half sibling. Even though it was a little rough at first, you bonded with him so fast, turning into the dynamic brother sister duo you'd both always hoped for.
then you met Leo.
He fell first, and he definitely fell harder. Leo has been enamored with you, practically drooling over you since day 1. Of course this really didn't do much to fix the occasionally tense relationship between him and Leo - if anything it exaserbated it more. You never really outright told Percy what you are, he just sort of... pieced it together over time. You were a little scared to tell him. You were scared of how he'd react, that he'd be mad at you for lying or hate you for what the other gods have put him through. You can still remember sitting at the bottom of the lake with him, watching the sun set from underwater.
"Percy, I need to tell you something. I just- I don't want you to be mad at me."
that got his attention.
"It's about- um- it's about me... who I am. What I am." You'd continued, the horrible knot in your stomach eating away at you, getting bigger and bigger. your pulse raced and your hands shook. He looked over at you, but you kept your eyes firmly on the surface of the water, glowing coral and green in the fading light.
"I know what you are."
he had said it so surely, your heart sunk.
"You're my sister."
you looked over at him, and he knew that if you were on the surface there would be tears prickling in your eyes. You sputtered something and he cut you off, his new york accent getting stronger as he felt a surge of older brother protectiveness through him.
"you're my fuckin' sister." You looked at him and saw everything else he wasn't saying. you're my sister, and that's it. I don't care what else you are, because I'm your brother and you're my sister and that's all I care about.
Ever since then you'd started feeling a little more comfortable about your status as a god. you didn't hide the way certain birds and animals would flock to you, or how just being near the water made all surrounding plants flourish. and eventually, with percy's unspoken support, you decided to tell Leo. You've been going out with him for long enough where you already know most of each other's secrets, and you just feel like it's time. You're walking along the coast, your hand entwined with Leo's warm one as he plays with your fingers.
"Did I- uh, did I ever tell you about my mom?"
You hadn't, and Leo's intrigued. He knows about your dad - hell, he's even met him once. But you never mentioned your mom. You start telling him about her and he listens with rapt attention.
"She's great with plants, too. She's, uh... a dryad, actually. Lives in a sweetbay magnolia tree."
You're quiet for a moment, hoping he'll put two and two together. You see a million thoughts and realizations and emotions flash through him so fast you'd miss it if you blinked. Then finally, he nods.
"So you're..."
"Yup." You say softly. "In charge of the coast. Where land meets sea."
A frog hops over to you and you smile, bending down and scooping him up. He puffs up his throat proudly, and you pet him a little. Leo watches you as you two continue to walk leisurely. The sun hits the water and the trees, basking you in a glittering light and soft shade at the same time. And it makes sense, he thinks. this little strip of land full of plants and animals, where you get your ankles splashed by the tide and get sand between your toes... you look at home here. And you are. Leo realizes that every time you've taken him on one of your little walks like this, you've been inviting him into your world without him even realizing it. it fills him with a sense of warmth and awe and gratitude like nothing he's experienced before. and in that comfortable silence, you know he has your back. Besides, he's sure Percy would kick his ass if he didn't.
"Your Big Bro is Gonna Keep You Safe."
Pairing: platonic Percy Jackson x half-sibling reader
Summary: You have a nightmare, and your older brother protects you
Warning: Nightmares, mentions of death but only in nightmares, brief mentions of natural disasters, poisonous snakes and spiders, falling from high places, and drowning
You've never had a good track of sleeping well. You've always had nightmares, some worse than others. You'd honestly just assumed you have insomnia. Going to sleep and staying asleep have both been a struggle for as long as you can remember. You'd often have sneak into your mom's bed at night to get any sleep at all.
Tonight, you've been tossing and turning. When you awoke abruptly, there was sweat on your forehead, and you could feel dry tears along your cheeks. Your blanket was laying only on half of your body, the rest of the blanket hanging off the bed.
You've come to hate these nights.. They'd become less frequent since coming to camp. You had assumed some monster or god placed a curse on you to have these nightmares because of that fact. But you still had them.
They were about all sorts of things. But mainly about you dying in all sorts of ways. Natural disasters, the Chimera, Medusa, the Fur- Kindly Ones (you still needed to get used to that), poisonous snakes and spiders, falling from great heights, and your worst one.. Drowning.
You looked around the cold and dark cabin built for Poseiden's kids. The few he had, anyway..
You gulped, trying to calm yourself down a little bit. You pulled your knees to your chest and hugged them while hiding your chin in between then. Every sound heard your gaze would whip towards. You were so scared and paranoid.
You looked to the next to yours. To your older brother, Percy. You swallowed again, jumping at the sound of rustling outside the cabin.
You let out a breath, "it's alright, y/n.." You muttered to yourself, "it's fine.. There's nothing there. Nothing can get into camp." You tried to calm yourself down. But your heart dropped, "unless someone summons a monster from inside..."
"Y/n..." You heard a groan, looking towards Percy, startled again. "Be quiet." He rubbed his face before yawning. He looked over at you, squinting as he tried to adjust to the light.
His lips parted when he realized how scared you looked. He blinked at you. And you stared at him.
"C'mere," he moved his blanket and made room for you.
You eyes widened slightly, you were taken aback, "huh?" Surely you heard him wrong.
"Come, here," he said, his words more enunciated this time.
You looked at over at the door to the cabin, hearing something outside. You practically shot out of your own bed and jumped into his.
You hugged him tightly, your arms landing around his middle while you shut your eyes tightly. You knew it was silly.. But you couldn't help feeling like something was about to burst through the door any minute now.
Percy laid the blanket over both of you and hugged you back tightly. He rubbed your back gently and soothingly.
"It's alright, sis," he said, kissing the top of your head, "your big bro is gonna keep you safe."
You calmed down a bit with his words and his soothing back rubs. You felt safe. You knew he would keep you safe. You knew you could let your guard down with him. You didn't need any more sleepless nights with your knees tightly hugged to your chest while your gaze darted to any noise or move seen. You could peacefully fall asleep.
And that's what you did. You were able to get one of the first good nights rests you ever had on a long time.
And it was because of your big brother who kept his word and kept you safe.
Upon discovering that you were forbidden children, you packed up out of the Hermes cabin and headed over to Poseidonâs cabin. His cabin was a far distance from the other cabins, rather out of importance or avoidance.
You opened the door, leading the inside of the cabin, noticing how dirty and abandoned the cabin looked, and frowned in disgust.
Great, not only are you and Percy totally alone in this cabin, but now you also have to clean it. Yay, you hate this cabin and that deadbeat asshole of a father already! At least, no one will accidentally step on you while you sleep, thatâs an upgrade here!
Once again, you and Percy met up with Chiron and Dionysus in the front office.
âAs forbidden children of the Sea God, you are singular amongst demigods, and your fatherâs only hope to prevent the outbreak of war.â Chiron explained, âFor months now, Zeus and Poseidon have been locked in a dispute over the master bolt. The symbol of Zeusâs authority, and it has been stolen.â
âOkay, andâŠ?! What the fuck that gotta do with us?â
Get straight to the point!
âWho stole it?â Your brother blinked, baffled by this new information.
âYou did.â Dionysus answered.
âWhat?â Confused as always, Percy stated.
âWhat, no he didnât!â You exclaimed, defending your brother.
âWell, missy, probably you stole it then,â
âReal classic with the blame game, Mr. D,â You scoffed, crossing your arms, âHow can either of us steal something we didnât even know existed until now? HmmâŠmake it make sense.â
âZeus is looking for a thief, and sees two forbidden children claimed by his jealous brotherâŠit doesnât look good for you, kiddos.â
ââŠIâŠwe didnât do anything,â
âOf course, you didnât, but your father needs your help.â
âFuck my father, okay, he finally shows up out of what 16 whole years, and suddenly weâre supposed to do everything to get his attention?â
âMs. Matthews,â Chiron exhaled, âI know youâre angry with your father but please let me finish.â
âMy bad, Chiron, you can continue,â
âReal classic with the blame game, Mr. D,â You scoffed, crossing your arms, âHow can either of us steal something we didnât even know existed until now? HmmâŠmake it make sense.â
âMs. Matthews,â Chiron exhaled, âI know youâre angry with your father but please let me finish.â
âMy bad, Chiron, you can continue,â
âThank you, Y/N, and as I was saying, An ultimatum has been given to him by Zeus that if he doesnât return the bolt by the summer solstice in one weekâŠ.â He finished with a neutral face, âThere will be war, that is your quest.â
âIâm sorry, what?â Your eyes widened.
âThere will be war, Y/N.â Percy restates, leaning forward, tugging slightly on his ear, âListen, thatâs what your ears are created to do.â
âThanks so much for the brief health science topic,â You gritted at your younger brother.
âAnytime, big sis,â He smiles widely.
The siblings turned back to Chiron, waiting for his next announcement.
âYou two must leave immediately.â Chiron commanded.
Percy questioned, âLeave? Leave for where?â
âBut we just got here!â You complained.
âI know that.â
âWhy are you kicking us out then?â
âIâm not kicking you two out, you just have to fulfill your quest,â
âA quest, likeâŠa real-life quest.â You skeptically inquired, sending them a dumbfounded look.
âYes, a real-life quest,â Dionysus mocked you. âIt canât get any more simpler than that.â
âDidnât know that I required a fucking echo, Mr. D.â
âWell with your big mouth, it is necessary,â Dionysus jabbed back.
You nodded, impressed by his final jab, allowing your little loss at that while Dionysus huffed his chest in boastfulness and smiled to himself.
âZeus is king on Olympus and Poseidon has always resented it, but there is a third brother who has always deeply resented them both,â
âItâs Hades,â Percy confirmed.
âYes,â
âHold up,â You interrupted, âThereâs more? How big is this goddamn family?â
âBigger than you can imagine, missy,â Dionysus nods.
âThe bolt is with Hades, in the underworld,â
âI know it sounds daunting.â
âSounds daunting?! With all due respect Chiron it is daunting, probably even terrifying,â You frantically replied, âHades might kill us when we reach his domain, did that thought ever cross your mind?â
âButâŠthere is a silver lining in this gray mysterious cloud, Y/N,â
âAnd whatâs that, Chiron?! The odds are looking so great right now!â
âYou two wonât be alone, a quest is always undertaken by three, or in this case, six. Y/N chooses two people and Percy chooses two people as well,â
âGreat. Good luck finding those guys, âcause it ainât gonna be me, or my sister,â Percy shaked his head.
âPoseidon has claimed you two. This is his will.â
âSounds like Poseidon has some personal issues with his brother that he needs to fix himself, which are none of my business nor my concern.â You quipped.
âExactly!â The blonde boy agreed with your statement, âPoseidon has ignored us our entire life.â
âYou are his children, his beloved son, and his fearless daughter.â Dionysus makes this clear.
âWe are Sally Jacksonâs and Jessica Matthewâs children.â
âWho is Sally and Jessica?â
You stared at him, clearing your throat, focusing on your upcoming words, âTheyâre the ones who cared enough to call herself our moms. Theyâre the ones who got themselves killed so that me and Percy could be safe here.â
âThe fate of the world hangs in the balance!â Dionysus was getting impatient and louder.
âWhy is the worldâs fate left up to children, then? Shouldnât the adults handle that?â
âYou two will accept this quest!â He yells, his anger getting the best of him.
âNo, we wonât!â Percy shouts back at the man.
âLast time I checked, these are grown men, millions of years old, and theyâre squabbling over a bolt like two spoiled annoying kids. Itâs time they act their age, itâs getting too ridiculous now. So if it means me going on this quest Iâd be beyond happy to put them in their places.â You cleared your throat, âSo forgive me and my brother if we donât wanna go on this suicide mission, considering weâre still coping with our own grief.â
âHey everybody,â A familiar voice chirps up, interrupting the impending screaming match.
It was Grover, awkwardly walking closer, diffusing the heated conversation with a crooked smile.
âGrover now is not the time,â Chiron chastised lightly, looking at the satyr.
âIâm sorry, sir, but I have news.â
âGroverâŠâ Chiron trailed off, disapproval laced in his tone.
âSally Jackson is alive.â He claims, determined and filled with hope.
âWhat?â
Oh, this is great! If your mother, Sally is alive then that must mean your mom, Jessica is alive too. You should ask Grover just to be sure and donât get your hopes up for nothing.
âIt looked like she died, but it only looked that way.â
âGroverâŠâ This time, Dionysus is steady with a warning tone.
âYour mother was stolen by Hades, which means sheâs with him now, in the underworld. Thatâs where they want you to go too, isnât it?â
You and Percy drifted your attention back to the two adults, who looked annoyed at Groverâs sudden assumption. Regardless of that, they knew it was the truth, and withholding that vital information wasnât a good idea on their behalf.
âDo you know if my momâs alive too, Grover?â You beamingly asked, clasping your hands together in anticipation.
âIâm sorry, Y/N, but Iâm having a strong feeling sheâs not.â
âOhâŠâ You looked dejected, feeling your heart clenching in sadness once again, âWellâŠokay.â
You really hoped she was still alive. At least, one of your moms is still alive, right, thatâs something to be grateful for.
âIf you can find her thereâŠI think you two can bring her back.â
That statement slowly dawned on the two siblings as you pondered on a final decision. It was certainly a no-brainer that youâd do anything to save your mother, Sally from the clutches of Hadesâ and his underworld, almost risking your lives too.
You breathed out, determination now replacing your anguish as you looked at the two adults, âWhen do we leave?â
After that dreadful conversation, Chiron allowed you and Percy to leave, giving you time to process the entire situation. Later that same day, it was evening and dinner was soon approaching.
Sticking to the same routine, you and Adrianna had joined Percy, Chris, and Luke at a table, all of you eating in contentment.
For some odd reason, you couldnât direct your eyes away from the Ares table, noticing the absence of a person.
âHey, whereâs Clarisse?â You asked Adrianna, eyes trained at the empty seat where the curly-haired girl supposedly sits.
Your best friend shrugged her shoulders, not having a care in the world as she continued to feast on her dinner.
âDonât know and donât care,â She groans, munching on her food, âIâm not La Rueâs keeper, her pesky siblings already do that. Besides why do you care, did you forget she completely humiliated you yesterday?â
âNobodyâs seen her since Capture The Flag,â Chris informed you.
âBest not to bother her, especially after the argument,â Luke advised.
âYeah, an argument which Clarisse initiated! I was defending myself and Percy whereas she brought up my dead parents!â
âWell, you disrespected her dad,â Adrianna recalls.
âWhoâs a god, whoâs immortalâŠâ You narrowed your eyes, âShe also made it seem like my moms being human was the main cause of their demise. Who fucking does that?â
âDespite all of that, you two were both in the wrong. Although I hate to admit it, Clarisse looked really hurt during the argument, probably because you were demolishing her reputation and her so-called feelings.â Your blonde best friend states.
âDoes that make me a bad person?â You covered your face with your hands, groaning as Adrianna patted your back.
Percy looked at you. âNo, you can try to apologize. Thatâs always better than nothing!â
âWow, youâre rational, for the first time in your life.â
âHaha! Youâre hilarious!â Percy sends you a half-lipped smile, âThis coming from the same girl who gave away her first kiss for a game distraction,â
âDoesnât matter anyway, we still won!â
âNo thanks to you,â
âOr you!â
âYou donât know that!â
âYes, I do!â
âCalm down, you guys.â
âIâm calm!â
âNever been more calmer,â
âMoving onâŠâ Luke trails off, staring at you, âSo what are you gonna do about the whole Clarisse fiasco?â
âYou can shove this whole pie in her face.â Percyâs smile widened, handing you an entire plate of pumpkin pie.
âThatâs just a waste of good pie,â Chris comments.
âNo thanks, but save me a piece,â
âYeah, if youâre lucky,â He murmurs, resting the pie on the table down in front of him.
âI wonder if sheâs eaten yet,â You murmured to yourself.
âYouâre worrying about her even though she disrespected your momsâ deaths just like that?!â She scoffed, gulping down some of her drink, âCould not be me,â
âWhatever, Adri, itâs not like I forgive her already.â
âGood, make her beg for it,â She listed off, âMake her chase you around for a bit. By the time you actually forgive her, sheâll be absolutely desperate for you and youâd be unbothered.â
âThat was my intention all along,â You grinned at her as she nodded at your statement, continuing her dinner. âWait, do just wanna see Clarisse at her lowest?â
âThis is why weâre best friends.â She smirks, drinking some of her juice.
âYou know me so well,â
âEvil masterminds, the both of you,â Percy chuckled.
âWhat do you think of the plan, little dude? Too extreme for our dear Clarisse?â
âNo, no, in fact, I think you should amplify it, like 10x times more,â
âYou two are bad influences,â
âDoesnât matter anyways, youâre still gonna do it regardless,â
âThat I am,â
Very quickly, you consumed the rest of your food, discarding the dirty dishes on the rack, and bidding your friends goodnight.
Without any explanation, you stood up from the table, venturing towards the loud boastful Ares table. You recognized the familiar blonde buff girl, who helped terrorize your brother earlier today and considered she might be of help. Tapping on the girlâs shoulderâs lightly, you smiled as she turned around to face you.
âWhat do you want?!â She scowled at you.
âWhatâs Clarisseâs favorite dinner dish?â You blankly asked with a neutral face.
âExcuse me?!â
âI donât like repeating myself,â You scoffed, âYou will tell me whatâs her favorite dinner dish and youâll do so with either a goddamn smile or a frown, I donât fucking care! Iâm not leaving this table until I get it, Iâm known to be very persuasive,â
Long story short, you managed to get the information you needed from Clarisseâs sister and prepared a plate for her.
Deciding to bring dessert as well, you skipped off to your regular table, grabbing the pumpkin pie off the table.
âHey, I was eating that!â Your brother incredulously yelled, holding his plastic fork in midair.
âNot anymore youâre not!â You kissed his forehead, âThanks for the desert,â
âSleep with one eye open tonight,â He warned, handing you two clean packaged forks.
âSure, Iâll try,â You rolled your eyes, appreciating his consideration for giving you two forks, and began to skip off in the direction of the cabins.
Soon enough, you headed off to the Ares cabin, humming along to a random melody with your hands full.
That was easy! If only people were so cooperative then there would be world peace. Oh well, one problem at a time!
Standing right outside of the Ares cabin, you gulped down your anxiety and knocked on the door a few times. When there was silence on return, you rolled your eyes at that.
Hesitantly, you turned the doorknob slowly and stepped inside, cautious of your surroundings as the loud creaking of the door exposed you.
âRoom service,â You awkwardly knocked on the side of the door, slightly startling the La Rue girl out of her silent trance.
âNot in the mood for conversation, Matthews,â She snarls, avoiding eye contact with you.
You stumbled further inside of the cabin, closing the door, and spotting Clarisse on her bed with her back turned to you.
âReally?? Weâre on a first-name basis after you stuck your tongue down my throat?â
ââŠI was strategizing a game plan, sorry if you actually felt something.â
Wow, okay, yikes. She didnât have use to use that harsh tone with you.
âAnd look at which team won now,â You snarked back, still feeling a little hostile to your prior argument.
âShut up,â She seethes, clenching the top half of the spear in her hand.
Releasing a tired sigh, knowing your judgment got ahold of your speech. You just wanted to talk to her without any complications. âLook I didnât come here to argue with you,â
âSo why are you here then?â She retorted with a demanding tone that held some annoyance to it, âCome to gloat even further in my face about your team winning Capture the Flag,â
âNo, I came to apologize for my behavior earlier,â
âBullshit,â
âIf I was actually bullshitting you, itâll be painfully clear.â You mentioned, nervously biting down on your lower lip, âIâm trying to be the bigger person here, but youâre not making it very easy.â
Clarisse was quiet, allowing her thoughts to run freely, keeping her outburst of emotions at bay. She thought to herself of your consideration of your genuine words.
You felt sympathetic towards her, willing to apologize for your wrongdoings and even prepared her favorite dinner dish. Not many people would do that for her, nor would she accept it without any hesitation either. Yet, your presence made her hesitate, considering if she was losing her aggressive nature.
She faced you, âDo you always bite your lip?â She pointed out, glancing at your chapped lips.
To be honest, that question caught you off guard, hoping you'd receive a reply from your earlier statement. For some reason, she seemed to be dodging that particular statement, but whatever got her talking to you again was fine.
âHabit of mines,â
âOh, okayâŠYou should buy a chapstick then,â She nodded, trying to change the conversation once the awkwardness settled in the atmosphere. Her eyes landed on the plate in your hand, âWhyâd you bring that plate of dinner?â
âYour siblings demand that I bring it to you,â You handed her the plate, ignoring the awkward exchange. âBesides I also got dessert, hope you like pumpkin pie,â You showed her the pie plate.
âYeah right,â She snorts with an eye roll, clearly unconvinced, glancing at the dessert plate before resuming her attention on her broken spear, âBecause if my siblings did that, you could have refused and carried on with your business. You donât give a shit about me,â
âBut I didnât, and technically it was more like me demanding they tell me what was your favorite food.â You huffed, irritated that she didnât accept the plate, âAnd no, itâs kinda sad that you think that I donât give a shit about you when I do. Believe it or not, I do care about your well-being, risse,â
âOh, reallyâŠâ Clarisseâs amusement is soon replaced with a hushed whisper, keeping her eyes focused on the plate, âThanks, I guess.â
âYouâre welcome. Eat it while itâs still hot,â You suggested, smiling and beckoning her towards the prepared plate.
Going off your kind instructions, Clarisse gently discarded her broken spear on her bedside table. She settled herself beside you, sitting on the floor and the mattress was her back support. Grabbing the plate out of your hand, place it on her lap, and unwrap her utensils. After she uncovered her food wrap that was carefully wrapped, she remembered your presence looming over her.
Pausing her movements entirely, she slowly turned to look at you.
âWhy are you still standing?â
âBecause I want you to eat.â
âThanks, captain obvious, but at least sit on the bed,â She negotiated with a soft smile, patting a space on her bed.
âNo thanks, Iâm gonna leave. Do you want half of this pie?â
âWhat? Why? You donât have to.â Clarisse protested, an instant frown tugging at her lips, âPlease, stay, I want to talk things out.â
âNah, thatâs too easy,â
âWhatâs too easy?â
âYou should put more effort into wanting me to stay,â
âDo you want me to get on my knees and beg?â
âNow that you mention it, yes I do,â
âSorry, pretty girl, Iâm not doing that,â
âWorth a shot,â
âBut, please stay, I genuinely want to discuss with you properly,â
Eventually, you gave into her begging, loving how hopeless she sounded, sitting down beside her. Waiting for her to eat but she doesnât, instead, she rests her dinner plate on her bedside table and continues to hover over her broken spear.
âClarisseâŠâ Worry overtook your features at her reluctance to consume her food.
Was she not hungry? Perhaps, she doesnât like eating in front of other people. Okay, thatâs bullshit, youâve seen her eat in public multiple times, so that wasnât the issue. Did she want you to leave? There were so many questions you wanted to ask her but was afraid of being rejected.
She hummed in response, mindlessly acknowledging your presence.
Oh fuck it, you only live once and youâd rather live your life not controlled by fear.
âAre you not hungry right now?â You frowned, placing a hand on the upper arm, unintentionally pressing against her muscles. Fighting back the wicked smirk that tugged at your lips, you let your hand linger there for a while, âI brought this to you because itâs not good to skip out on meals.â
At first, Clarisse kept quiet, accepting your touch as you tried to comfort her.
Growing impatient and worried by her lack of speech, you gently gripped her upper arm, tugging her in your direction. Yet, the La Rue girl resisted your actions against you, wanting to remain unseen.
Clarisse kept her head turned the other way, her voice suddenly sounding hoarse and tiredâŠlike sheâd been crying. Ever since you walked into the cabin, Clarisse forcefully withheld her tears, not wanting to be deemed weak. That was why she kept her back facing you, to conceal her upcoming tears and saddened state. âOh, hey, what did you say?â
Did she not hear what you said earlier? Was she zoning out and purposefully ignoring you? Although you couldnât blame her, you talked horribly about her father, one who she so righteously claimed was there for her.
You decided to play along, âNothing much,â You noticed her quiet sniffles and tense shoulders as she kept her back turned to you. Curiosity got a hold of you, eyebrows furrowing in confusion as you finally spun her around to look at you, realizing she was wiping away tears.
Maybe, urging a desperate Clarisse at the moment wasnât a good idea. Forget about the personal vendetta right now, it seems as if Clarisse needs comfort and you were giving it to her.
âHey, are you okay- are you crying?â You shuffled closer to her, âWho made you cry? Just say their name and itâll be dealt with, all I need is the name,â Your hands softly made their way onto her face, turning her head to look at you. You smiled at her recognition, caressing her face slightly, adoring how she fawns from the simple touch.
No wonder why you had her so whipped! Sheâs in pure fascination by just your touch alone.
âIâm fine, and I wasnât crying.â She defended herself, chuckling at your protective nature.
It was sweet to see you care for her.
âOh really, then, why are tears all over your face? Your eyes are puffy and red, and your cheeks are soaked with tears,â
âMust be the room dust or my eyes are easily irritated,â She sniffled, slightly shuddering when your fingers brushed away the tears, âAnyways, this doesnât matter, itâs not a big deal.â
âItâs fine to admit that you were crying, Clarisse, Iâm not going to hold it against you. No matter what you think of me, Iâm not the type of girl to expose your business,â
âI donât really want to talk about it,â
âThatâs okay, itâs your feelings, itâs none of my business.â You reassured, tucking a stray curly hair behind her ear.
Although, you really wanted it to be. No, stop acting too fast Y/N! Donât forget what she said to you.
âBut thatâs the problem,â She complained.
You frowned at her complaint. âWhat?â
Is she serious, like at all right now?
You were offering consolation while respecting her boundaries and still, she managed to find a problem.
Never have you been so utterly confused by just one person as much as Clarisse did to you. What does it take to get through this girl?
âYour energy; I want to talk to you. Youâre an easily approachable person and I hate thatâŠâ
âOh, well.â You rolled your eyes, dropping your hands and onto your lap, âI apologize for being such an easy approachable girl,â
âNo, I didnât mean it like that, Matthews,â she exhales, closing her eyes and momentarily missing your soft touch which still lingered on her cheeks. The Ares girl stammered on her upcoming words, silently cursing in her head for being too straightforward. âYou make it so, so fucking hard for me to think properly.â
Your eyebrows raised in surprise, catching you off guard as a devious smile appeared.
Oh, you made it hard to think properly?! Now it was only suitable to flirt with her.
âThat is really flattering, Clarisse,â You smirked. âSo, I must be on your mind a lot these days,â
âGet your mind out of the gutter, Matthews.â She grabbed an extra fork, dug into the pumpkin pie, and joined you.
âYour mind was in there, long before mine,â You countered, piecing away a mouthful of pie, âI should be telling you that.â
âStop getting off track,â
âIâd rather be off track with you,â You leaned in closer.
âYouâre such a damn flirt, Matthews,â she chuckles, ignoring the butterflies swarming around her stomach.
âAnd you love it,â You taunted, âAlmost much as you love kissing me,â
âI never said that,â
âYou didnât need to,â
âWhy not?â
âBecause I can see it in your eyes, you know you wanna kiss me,â
Making immediate eye contact, she flushed under her piercing gaze and her smile never faltered. Smoothly you placed your finger underneath her chin, Clarisse swooning just by your simple touch as you lifted her face to meet your eyes.
âAnd what will you do if I want to kiss you?â
âMaybe Iâll accept it,â You teased, bringing her in closer to you.
âDonât start something you know you canât finish,â She mutters, eyes glancing at both your lips and eyes.
âAre you calling me a pussy, La Rue?â A teasing smirk forms on your face.
âNo, Iâm not, but to quote you âyou are what you eat,ââ She reaffirmed in a low tone.
âI adore hearing you quote me, makes me feel more superior,â You murmured, your lips hovering over hers, barely inches away from touching.
âBut now you need to eat,â You spoke, pulling away from her as if nothing intensely happened just now.
âEat?! You want me to eat when you were that close to me, I canât possibly focus on anything else other than you.â She exclaimed, still processing your near kiss.
The idea of her eating food was long gone and what she truly wanted to eat wasnât technically edible for her.
âYet youâre the one telling me to get my mind out of the gutter,â You huffed out, snatching the pumpkin pie from her hand, âHypocritical much,â
âCall me whatever you want, pretty girl, but I crave to taste your lips again,â
âDonât you have a better reconciliation of today?â
âNo, I donât. In fact, I canât remember anything from the past hours.â
âYou canât?â
âI canât,â
âOh, really, risse?â
âYes, really, pretty girl,â
âWhat happened to your precious spear?â
âIt broke,â
âExactly, who broke it?â
She sharply answered, âYour menace of a brother,â She discovered you caught her in a lie, and sheepishly stared at you.
âNice try, I never believed you from the start,â
You stared at the untouched plate of food, and anxiously scanned Clarisseâs face, trying to decipher any negative expression.
âYouâre not gonna stop looking at me like that until I eat this pumpkin pie, do you?â
âYep,â
She smiles, continuing to closed-mouth chew on the pumpkin pie, having already her dinner and now finishing off dessert.
âThis feels weird to me.â
âWhatâs so weird?â
âI never used to care about any of the small things other people do for me. I donât wanna sound like a sap, but it feels different with you, almost natural. Iâm inclined to appreciate the acts of service you do for me, even if theyâre as small as bringing me dinner. All my demigod life, Iâve been told by my father to only look out for myself and pay no mind to others. So, I guess what Iâm trying to say is, I never really had anyone else to care for me, so thank you,â
âWell, now you do,â
âTie up your hair so it wonât get in our pie,â You advise, holding her hair back, âDo you have a scrunchie?â
âYeah, I do,â She gets up, walking over to her bedside drawer and rummages through it until she finds it.
She hands you the scrunchie, grabs her plate again, and continues to eat.
âDo you mind?â Although she still was considerate enough to ask, it was rather a declaration than a question.
âOf course not,â You grinned.
You put the black scrunchie around your wrist, pulling her hair back in a tight ponytail, switching it with the scrunchie, finalizing her ponytail.
Somehow, Clarisse was a fast eater and finished her food in a matter of seconds.
âLookâŠClarisse,â You kept your head down, avoiding eye contact, âAbout what I said earlier today at Capture The Flagââ
âForget about,â She interrupted, placing her hand on top of yours, âSeriously, I donât give a fuck about our argument anymore.â
âYou donât?!â Puzzled as ever, you asked, needing to be certain.
âI donâtâŠafter our argument, I calmed down and started to soak in your wordsâŠ.and I realized you were rightâŠI seek too much validation from my father and I canât fucking believe it took your brother breaking my precious spear to realize that.â
âClarisseâŠI didnât mean that, sometimes my mouth moves faster than my brain and I know thatâs no excuse but, I really am sorry for saying what I said. It was shitty for me to talk about your dad when I knew nothing about your relationship with him.â
âBut you did,â She shakes her head, discarding the empty pie plate in a nearby mini trash can, âAnd surprisingly Iâm okay with thatâŠlike âletâs get past this okayâ not âiâm gonna fight with you okayâ,â
âYou sure?â You squinted your eyes, tracing your fingers over her hand, âYouâre not holding back on me or anything?â
âIf I was, you would have known. I think you know me better than I know myself,â
âBut we met less than a week ago,â
âOh, I know, thatâs the scary part,â
Clarisse looked down, fidgeting with her bracelet in her hand, contemplating how to proceed. Her final decision was quick as she nodded to herself, taking off the jewelry on her wrist.
âThis is my momâs bracelet, she gave it to me when I first arrived at this camp.â
You admired the bracelet as she dropped it in your hand. âItâs absolutely beautiful, Clarisse,â
âI know,â
âBut why are you giving it to me?â
âI figure you needed it more than me,â
âHow so?â
âDumbass, look at the inside,â she instructed. As you did exactly what was expected, you brought the bracelet closer to your face and squinted your eyes to read the fine print.
âIt says ânever give up hope, even if things arenât perfectâ.â You recited, trying to understand the deeper meaning, âI appreciate the kind gift but how exactly is thisâŠrelating to me at all?â
âAbout having a chance to save your mother?â
âOhâŠright, forgot about that,â
âDo you have short-term memory loss or something?â
âI think I just might,â
âUhh, okay makes sense,â
âBut, wait, how did you know about my mother, Sally?â
âYou told me about her.â She stated.
âI did?â
âNot technically, but letâs ignore that. Point is, you have a possibility of rescuing your mother, and thatâs awesome,â
âSure, but howâd you know about my mother?â
âDonât stress your pretty little head over the small things,â She let out a low whistle, shushing you, âWhat I said about your moms was totally uncalled for. Never should have disrespected their deaths, and used it against you in that way. Your moms dying as humans didnât change the fact that you still horribly lost them.â She continued, clearing her throat, âNo matter what I say, how many words I can describe to express what it felt for you in that moment, to witness and gain trauma alongside it. The bottom line is that Iâm sorry for acting like an asshole and for my shitty words. None of my words were true, it can be stressful finding out so much devastating news in under short time and youâre managing pretty well, even more than most of these other campers. Iâm justâŠreally sorry.â
You plastered on a weak smile, âOut of sight, out of mind,â
âYou donât have to fake a smile,â She affirmed, âNot around me,â
âIâm not,â
âYes you are; youâre doing it right now,â
âYouâre getting quite observant today,â
âIs there anything I can do to make you feel better about it?â
âNo, itâs fine. Itâs getting pretty late and Iâm tired. Just going to head to bed,â
âWait,â She grabbed your wrist, stopping you from standing up.
âCan I walk with you? Iâll walk with you to your cabin so you donât have to be alone,â
âStop fucking with me, Clarisse,â
âTrust me, Iâm not fucking with you,â
âReally? I thought Clarisse kept to herself, doesnât bother herself with other peopleâs shit and feelings.â You rhetorically stated, âWhoâs Clarisse and what have you done to her?â
âFirst of all, Iâm still the same Clarisse, and thereâs always room for improvement,â
âWhy are you doing this?â
âBecause I genuinely want to walk you to your cabin,â
âNo ulterior motives; like sneak attack part 2 or any of the sort?â
âPurely genuine, I swear,â
âOkay, wash your hands and we can leave.â
âYes maâam,â
âThen, weâll talk about how you broke our pinky promise.â
The two teenage girls left the Ares cabin and headed towards the Poseidon cabin, keeping each other company.
Finally, you two reached to the cabinâs porch and stood around there, not wanting your conversation to end so soon.
âGood night, Clarisse,â
âGood night, pretty girl,â
Taking in a short breath, you stepped forward to her, caressing her cheek, noticing her slight shudder at your soft touch. However, she leaned in, pressing her lips gently against yours, giving you a short chaste kiss.
Too stunned to react, you reciprocated the kiss as your eyes fluttered closed, melting into it. Eventually, the kiss became more ferocious as her hands moved downwards, pulling you by the waist closer.
Finding yourself melting over the passionate kiss, a small smile formed on Clarisseâs face, gaining the confidence to dominate the kiss. Just like that, her lips found yours and it was another competition between the two except it was more than friendly.
Pulling away from her lips, desperately needing a breather, but Clarisse refused that, briefly shaking her head. You felt Clarisseâs grip tightened, walking forward and pushing you by the hips until your back hit the doorframe, doing all that without breaking the kiss. She yearned for more, more of you, more of your lips, she just needed you with her right now at this moment, it was so obvious. Both of your lips were swollen but neither of you chose to acknowledge it, wanting more of the other in your presence.
With your lips moving one accord, your hands lost themselves in her hair, unloosing the scrunchie you tied up previously, and tugging your fingers across her curly hair.
Breaking away from the heated kiss, your breaths intermingled as you pressed your forehead together, staring at the other girl in contentment.
Guess that was one way to end the night off.
Your lips were swollen as you hazily stared at the Ares girl, your chest slowly heaving, attempting to ease your alternating heartbeat.
âI should reallyâŠgo inside and get some sleep,â
âYeah, thatâs probably a good idea,â
âOf course, it is,â You stammered out, playing with your braids. To save yourself from further embarrassment, you spin around, the seashell accessories in your braids clacking loudly. Facing your cabin door and quickly twisted the doorknob to enter as you heard a slight chuckle escape from Clarisseâs lips.
Normally, you would have recognized a new silver bracelet on your wrist right away so the dangling noise gave you away. It was only when the noise fully captivated you, looking down at your wrist to notice that Clarisseâs bracelet was still on.
Shit, you almost forgot! This was Clarisseâs bracelet, and you canât believe she forgot to ask for it back.
Internally groaning as you tiredly faced Clarisse, your fingers lingering over the bracelet, ready to take it off.
âClarisse, your motherâs bracelet, I completely forgot,â
She halted your movements, resting her hand on top of yours again for the second time today.
âNo, you can keep it for now,â
âBut I canât, itâs sentimental to you,â The La Rue girl removed her hand from yours.
âAnd itâll be even more sentimental to me if youâre wearing it,â
âIs the Clarisse La Rue getting sappy? Thatâs certainly a must-see!â
âDonât push it,â She lightly warns.
âOnly because you said soâŠat least for tonight.â You bargained with a small grin, analyzing her silver bracelet, âIf weâre exchanging bracelets temporarily, then I want you to wear this,â
You took off your motherâs bracelet, putting the piece of jewelry around Clarisseâs right wrist. âNow we both have a reason to look for the other, and weâre wearing a sentimental value of each other.â
âI love it,â She admired the gold bracelet, âI must say gold isnât my color, but Iâll manage,â
âNo one likes a complainer,â You pouted, âGood night, risse, for real this time,â
âGood night, pretty girl,â She bid you goodbye, watching as you entered your cabin and closed the door behind you.
If only all of your nights needed a passionate makeout with Clarisse underneath the shining stars, youâd be the happiest forbidden demigod alive.
Shit, you completely forget you were supposed to have Clarisse at your mercy. This also doesnât mean you forgive her just yet, sheâd have a lot more apologies coming your way.
hi pumpkinbxtch, a request please, as percy and sally reactionary, when percy meets his twin at the camp (she was stolen as a baby in the hospital)
double trouble â§â *â ă
â percy Jackson and reader being his twin.
summary: You and Percy know each other, and you have more than one thing in common with each other. Maybe family blood.
warnings: swear words
a/n: What's up. I love the idea of ââPercy having a twin. It's like a mentada de madre (an intentional rebellious act to annoy) to the gods from Poseidon. I hope you like it. Kisses from Mars.
The gods did nothing. As usual.
You always blamed them, but at least you had a safe place to be, yes, maybe Hermes' cabin wasn't the most spacious, and they crowded you with a bunch of unrecognized people (like you), but you couldn't complain. At least you were there, alive.
Until the new one arrived. A boy with eyes like⊠yours and black hair like⊠yours, the same age as you.
Halfway into the cabin he cut the pace, and he saw you with his eyebrow raised, his teeth peeking out slightly as he exaggerated the grimace even more.
â Hello?
â Hello.
The sons of Hermes laughed and others whispered. Within a couple of hours, they would have spread the news of your horrible similarity. Still, you just passed by and decided to ignore him.
Percy Jackson, they said his name was.
âGood,â you said, âso what?â you added. So you did your tasks for the day and started helping.
The days passed and of course, you had to live with that Percy, but it really scared both of you at the level of synchronicity that you sometimes had. Literally, one day, you couldn't stop talking at the same time.
The Stoll brothers looked at you strangely and analyzed every movement. âWe may not be twins, but absolutely you are.
You and Percy denied, throwing them some bread at the same time. Both saw each other again and began to murmur the same things, totally annoyed and awkward.
Then catch the flag day arrived. They put the two of you in similar positions and right next to the beach, you began to fight. For no apparent reason, but you were so upset, so confused.
â STOP FOLLOWING ME! âPercy shouted, kicking some sand while he faced you. The tone of his eyes was exactly the same as yours, and they always told you that this was unusual.
â WE HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER, DUMB â And you stuck your tongue out at him. As you dragged, the spear and your armor echoed.
â BUT YOU'VE BEEN ACTING STRANGE â You looked at him frowning.
â YOU SHOW UP LATER, YOU ARE THE ONE THAT ACTS STRANGE!
Percy had the apparent feeling of affection for you, but he also found you tiring. But why love someone he didn't know?, ugh.
When you noticed that he was silent, you couldn't stand it and pushed him to the shore, causing him to soak his tennis. He glared at you and stumbled with the little rocks.
â WHAT THE FUCK?
And he pulled you into the water, but when you held him tight, both ended up falling and having a fight.
Percy didn't want to hurt you, so he just threw water at you, but it didn't do anything to you, actually it filled you with energy. you, pushed his face away with your hand and tried to nudge him, but you didn't succeed either because Percy moved naturally in the water.
Some campers noticed the fight and called Chiron, others joined the fight, singing and inciting.
Several were betting on Percy and others on you.
Then, without measuring your strength, you punched the black-haired and accidentally scratched his cheek with your rings. He grunted, but the wound was already healing instantly. That surprised you.
The distraction was an opportunity for Percy, so he took your arms and pulled you in with him. Still fighting in the water, you started kicking, and the other campers stopped cheering. They ran towards you.
You felt panicked, and stupidly let out your breath, trying to yell at the boy to let you go. But what happened was stranger.
Your voice rang clearly in Percy's mind, and he was stunned, all fighting and struggling ceasing. You looked at him confused and took a sigh, a sigh? Could you breathe underwater?
âHow do you do that?â You heard in your head, opening your eyes wide.
âHow do you do that?â You replied.
You were suspended in the water, breathing and speaking telepathically.
A seawater glow shimmered over the water, and rose to the surface.
Damn, there was Chiron with his mouth open, looking right above you.
Both looked and managed to make out a figure.
âTwo tangled forks? âPercy asked.
But you had been at the camp long enough to know exactly what it meant.
â Percy⊠â You said surprised. He looked at you, it was the first time you said his name with such seriousness.
Chiron trotted in front of you, and you grabbed the boy's wrist. You walked a little further to the shore, but stayed in the water.
Percy didn't understand anything.
â Hail the Jackson twins! Children of Poseidon.
Your heart raced and you looked more closely. Two Tridents, but at the last point they both got tangled. They looked like they were doing âPinky Promise.â
Everyone bowed before you and you looked at Percy, who didn't seem to have a different expression than yours, literally.
You were called to The Big House.
Mr. âDâ rubbed his temples as he sank into the chair.
Chiron drummed on his lap with a smile on his face.
â twins? â You said.
â she was stolen, and my mom didn't tell me? â Percy claimed, he seemed really offended. Was that how great he got along with his mother? You thought and stumbled over your own thought. Or your mother?
âIt is a difficult question.
âUnfair, â you murmured. âI've been here for as long as I can remember, and nowâŠâ you took a breath and your cheeks turned red. Percy looked at you and felt bad. His sister, she has been there, he could never help her.
â Yes, yes, how sad. The misfortune here is that it's not just one, it's two sons of Poseidon that I have to put up with now! â Dionisio let out another grunt and took a sip of his Coca-Cola. This behavior wasn't strange to you, so you didn't say anything, but Percy grabbed your shoulder and leaned towards the god of wine.
â Don't talk to my sister like that â his tone sent a shiver down your spine. His sisterâŠ
The comfort you felt couldn't have been normal, but you were really looking forward to having someone by your side, and now you had a brother. Strangely, you felt happy and excited. Almost overlooking the question of why. So why were you separated from your family?
You put your other hand on top of your brother's and told him it was okay with a look.
The connection you found with each other was out of this world. Of course.
âSo I just throw this strange coin while you throw water on the grass? What the fuck is that? â You growled and turned the hose towards Percy, half of his person getting wet and the other not. You looked at each other again with raised eyebrows. Would find an answer later.
âThrow it, Percy, damn it!
Percy threw up his hands, fed up. And he threw the coin through the curtain of water, it disappeared.
Your brother looked for answers with his eyes, but you shook his hand, then you will explain to him.
â Oh, Iris, goddess. Accept our offering and let us talk to⊠â Well, you hadn't learned your mother's name. Because you didn't know her. Percy raised his hand.
âSally Jackson
The rainbow began to reflect a woman, with brown hair and freckles on her nose. Pretty.
â Mother? âPercy said, surprised with the technology he had come across.
The woman was cooking, but she dropped the shovel when she saw the reflection of her son in the middle of the kitchen.
âPercy? â She approached, her eyes locked on the boy, and you squeezed the hose.
â Mother! âHe shouted, full of joy. You didn't need much to know that they got along well.
âMy son, how are you? I can't contact you, but how are you? And Grover?
You almost got dizzy with everything she said, but Percy seemed to keep up with him without any problem. Your brother assured him that everything was fine.
â Mother, in fact, I want you to tell me something.
You were about to tell Percy to abort the mission, but he looked at you confidently.
âWhat happened to my sister?
The woman's face darkened.
âHow do you know that, dear?
Percy stood up from the grass and motioned to you. He would take the hose, then you appeared within your mother's field of vision, and she opened her mouth, letting out a sob.
â It just can't be
â Hello â You said awkwardly and let out a nervous laugh. Sally couldn't deny it, it was you.
Finally, you had found your family.
But the gods would pay you back.
Flashback
The forest was lush and quiet, the bird chirping early in the morning and the river rushing, splashing its cold waters to your pale skin was the only thing that was ever so relaxing. You thought about it again and again, Percy and his quest to retrieve the master bolt. Where was your little brother? The one you cared for much..
It was 5 in the morning, most of the campers were still sleeping, the counselors were awake, keeping the cabins and activities on track. You stared at the picture over and over again, you and percy in an amusement park, you clutching a teddy bear your mom won for you at the fair and a pink cotton candy your mom bought for Percy, Sally was behind you two, smiling widely, her arms wrapped around you and percy's neck. You all looked happy.
But that's life, you've got to accept that your mom is gone, or so you thought..you don't know who to believe anymore.
a twig snapping from behind caught you off guard, you flinched and quickly turned around, revealing someone. Luke.
The Hermes Boy.
You sighed and rolled your eyes, earning a chuckle from him, you kept staring at the rushing river while he sat beside you.
"What's wrong?" you sniffed, wiping the tears on your eyes.
"Nothing, why do you even care?" Luke shrugged and watched your eyebrows knit together.
"Can I not care? We're friends afterall"
"Since when did we became friends? i just arrived at camp Two weeks ago, we can't just magically be friends and make friendship bracelets together" You sniffed and looked at him, carefully waiting for a response.
"Ever since I helped you with archery, you agreed to become my friend" Those words registered in your mind before finally remembering it.
You did accepted him as a friend.
"Oh."
"Yes 'oh' , Now tell me what are you so upset about? is it about Percy?" You sighed, shaking your head, tears threatening to spills from your eyes.
"My mom and brother, I blamed myself for what happened on the hill, I could've saved her! I could've driven the minotaur away so that my mom can escape, i'm old enough to fight Iâ"
"âBut you were attacked, You can't force yourself to fight, The healers had to carry you all the way to the infirmary and said you were badly injuredâ"
"âThat doesn't matter!â"
"âIt does!" Luke snapped. Your face frowned, confusion washing all over you, Tears were now streaming down your cheeks.
"You matter to me, I know you did your best to save your mother that night" He whispered, moving closer to you, his warm palms brushing your tears away, followed by a kiss on your forehead.
He brought you closer to him, Your chest pressed against his, your head rested on his neck, he pressed his nose on your hair and inhaled your sweet coconut shampoo while he rubbed your back.
You found yourself leaning into his touch, sighing in comfort.
ââ
You can drive all night
Lookin' for the answers in the pourin' rain
You wanna find peace of mind
Lookin' for the answer
Flashback
The feeling of rain drops trickling down your face was so relieving, No wonder why your mom does it all the time, sitting on the balcony of your small, dingy apartment in Upper East Side manhattan, thinking about your dad, Ignoring Gabe.
Now you were in Camp halfblood, doing the same thing.. But you weren't thinking about you dad..It was rather about Luke Castellan and his stupid smile, his fluffy dark curls and gorgeous eyes, there was at least maybe fifty percent chance that you might end up with him. why fifty tho? Well, Him talking to that gorgeous Aphrodite girl says otherwise.
You inhaled the intoxicating scent of wet trees before smiling, your clothes drenched. but you didn't care less.
It wasn't until you felt a presence behind you, and it was none other than the boy you were thinking about.
His orange Camp Halfblood shirt was also drenched, his toned body was visible.
His presence was annoying, but you loved it at the same time. He nudged you, and of course, you shot him glare.
"You love annoying me, do you?" You sighed, squeezing water out from your wet clothes, He laughed and helped you up.
"I do"
"more than Silena?"
Luke paused.
"What does Silena Beauregard have to do with this?"
You chuckled softly, Luke's confused gaze still peering at you "Don't you like her?" You asked, jealousy laced into your voice like venom as the rain stilled poured heavily, thunderclouds were rumbling on the sky, signaling a much heavier storm.
Luke's eyes never left yours, as if tho he was trying to tell you something, he stepped forward, brushing away a strand of your hair and tucked it behind your ear, cupping your cheeks at the same time.
everything seemed to have stopped, the rain, the storm. everything felt so unreal...
"What are you doing?" You whispered, your eyes never leaving his.
"I don't like Silena Beauregard"
There was a moment of silence between you and him.
"I love you, Y/n, From the moment I saw you on that hill. You stole my heart, And i'm letting you keep it"
The exact dialogue that you imagined him saying was coming true, your heartbeat became fast, as you felt his lips inching closer to yours.
ââ
Funny how it seems like yesterday
As I recall, you were lookin' out of place
Gathered up your things and slipped away
No time at all, I followed you into the hall
Flashback
It was midnight, and you were packing silently in Cabin 3.
Your senses finally came to you, and you're gonna save your mother and brother. Chiron and Mr. D were against you, saying that it was too dangerous for you outside the camp's border since you're a daughter of a Big Three god, Therefore your blood can attract monsters miles away, But you didn't care less.
Obedience doesn't come naturally to you.
even if it meant leaving Luke.
The engraving of your father's image came back to you, you remembered his smile when you were young, while he hummed a tune while cradling you gently into his arms like a delicate pearl.
you prayed silently at him, to protect you, since this journey is about your family afterall.
looking one last time at your cabin, you went ahead on the camp's hill, walking quietly as possible, the small flicker of light in the Hermes Cabin caught your breath, then, there was silence. It was only you and the crickets chirping.
The sight of the big, light blue farmhouse gave you chills, especially the attic..that was your main goal..
To talk to the oracle.
You carefully picked the lock until there was a *Click*
slowly opening the door, you held your breath and aimed for the stairs, each step you took made a creaking sound, but Mr. D and Chiron seemed to be deep asleep since no one even heard it.
Once you reached the attic, the cold midnight breeze seemed to greet you because you suddenly felt cold. Shivering slightly, you walked towards the mummified body of the oracle, carefully trying not to bump on pickled monster heads in gigantic mason jars.
"Hello...uhmâ Goodmorning?" That was horrible.
The mummy didn't budge. Instead, a green smoke came out of the mummy's mouth, and a deep voice swirled inside your head.
"I am the Oracle of Delphi, Speaker of Prophecies of the Phoebus Apollo, Slayer of the Mighty Python. Approach, Seeker, And ask"
You held your breath and clutched your bag tighter.
"I came to ask if I will be able to save my mom and brother." There was a slight hope in your voice as you waited for the oracle to speak.
The mummy's voice swirled inside your head once more. This time, the voice was deeper;
'In shadows deep, a maiden weeps,
Her fate is sealed, in darkness sleeps.
Her lover's heart, a flame ablaze,
In vengeance sworn, for her he'll rise.
Then, There was silence.
"Hold onâ I don't understand!" You ushered, your voice was a little loud as you nudged the mummy again, but againâ Silence.
The Prophecy didn't made any sense, It didn't mention your mother or brother, You expected something like; "Victory will be yours and a happy family shall be reunited once more".
Looking at the mummy one more time, you left the attic and climb down the stairs.
Once you were out of the big house, You saw a silhouette infront of you.
You froze and pulled out your dagger.
When the moon got brighter. it revealed Luke.
Still in his Camp Halfblood t-shirt with messy bed hair and red and black checkered Pj's.
"Y/n?" His raspy voice asked.
"Lukeâ"
Then, His eyes shifted on your bag.
It came to him.
"You're leaving?" He stepped forward.
You bent your head down in shame and nodded.
"I want to find percy and mom...I just can't stay here at Camp and do nothing, They can be in danger!"
"And what if you didn't make it? How about me? did you ever think that?" Tears formed in your eyes.
"Leaving is hard, Luke." You whispered.
He wrapped his arms around your waist, kissing you ferociously. He pulled away and took a bracelet out of his pocket with a small engraving of your initial and his, beside a wing and a trident.
"Promise me one thing" Luke whispered, taking your arms and putting the bracelet on your wrists.
"Anything..."
"Be back safely in my arms..."
A small smile graced upon your lips before you nodded.
"I Promise"
ââ
Cigarette daydream
You were only seventeen
Soft speak with a mean streak
Nearly brought me to my knees
Flashback
There was an arrival on Camp.
Luke Castellan hoped that it was you, his girlfriend, who he had waited for almost a month. He expected you to walk inside camp, smiling widely while the crowd cheered, You running towards him, kissing him, Ever so happy that you're back in his arms.
That was what he thought.
Instead, two healers were carrying a stretcher, and a white cloth covered the person who was lying on the makeshift bed.
Everyone was gathered in the entrance, strings of gasps and mumbles in disbelief continued as Chiron and Mr. D fought.
Then, an arm dangled out of the stretcher, Luke never knew that simple accident would make his heart drop.
He saw a familiar gold bracelet.
The world stopped all of a sudden.
There you are, laying on the stretcher as the healers carried it towards the lightened funeral pit.
His warm hands brushed your cold cheeks, praying to the gods that you might wake up. But the large slice on your neck says otherwise.
Mr. D and Chiron's argument was now heard since the crowd went silent while watching Luke cry.
"She ran away and disobeyed us! She doesn't deserve a funeral pit! only heroesâ"
"SHE IS A HERO!" Yelled Chiron, shutting Dionysus up with a frown. He stomped away.
Luke buried his head on your neck, sobbing quietly. He can't accept it. The only girl that had brightened up his darkened world was gone. He wanted to feel you again, like a secret and a sin.
You were the first person he ever showed his heart to, and you were the reason no one will ever see it again.
Flashback
Perseus Jackson was back at Camp.
He was happy, Yes. But the first person who he searched for was his sister.
The blonde boy scanned the crowd that clapped for him, hoping that his sister was there, grinning at him before hugging him tightly.
But when he asked Annabeth where you are, she looked down, her eyes softening before it glistened with tears.
"Percy..I'm sorry" She tried to step forward, but he stepped away, He looked at Annabeth like she was crazy.
"What do you mean 'I'm sorry'? Look, Annabeth, I'm tired of jokes. Where's my sister?"
A tear rolled down on Annabeth's cheeks.
"A week before we left for our quest...Y/n..she tried to follow and save us.. But when she reached Santa Monica... She was caught between Chimera and Hydra..Sheâ She didn't make it"
Percy shook his head and stepped back, Tears were now threatening to spill from his eyes.
"I don't like your jokes, Annabeth" He whispered, Horrified.
"It's no Joke" Luke's voice came from behind.
"She's been burned in a funeral pit fit for a hero, She's buried now"
Percy gaped at Luke.
"You're notâ Please, Don't tell me this is true" Percy begged.
"It's true, Percy. They'll pay for her death" Luke's voice cracked as he stared at Percy, His eyes filled with cold resentment.
Flashback
You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend.
Percy held up his sword at Luke, but Backbiter was much bigger, and Luke was stronger. Unlike Percy, who had a small bronze sword.
"Clarisse didn't steal the bolt. You did. You worked with Ares to plot it on me! So when the shoes you gave me pulled me down to tartarus... The bolt will be delivered right back to Kronos."
Luke's face hardened.
"I never thought you'd give 'em to grover to wear, I AM your friend percy, none of this was meant to betray you!"
Percy kept his sword aimed at Luke.
"And my sister... Did you also forcefully send her after me so she can be killed, hm?"
Her lover's heart, a flame ablaze, In vengeance sworn, for her he'll rise
"Why do you think so lowly of me, Percy? Why would I send the girl I love on a deadly quest?" Luke tried to slash percy, but he dodged it quickly.
"You're the one who should've died. Percy. Not her."
The tip of backbiter was now at Percy's face, the dim moonlight shone above as fireworks started being launched.
"She's supposed to be here! Right now! With me, in my arms! But she's six feet deep because of you. Did you really think that your dad tried to save her? Did you really think that the Gods had mercy on her when they watched her struggle between those monsters? No. That was enough proof that the gods NEVER CARED ABOUT US! Her blood spilt shamelessly, She died a commoner's fate." His venomous words stung Percy to the core.
"And believe me, when I say this; I'll build an entire army to avenge her"
With that, Luke sliced the arch and vanished.
Percy doesnât end up in the infirmary at 2:29 in the morning out of instinct, foresight, or any kind of divine âchosen oneâ intervention.Â
He ends up in the infirmary at 2:29 in the morning because some Apollo kid was hooking up with an Ares kid on the beach, and they found you.Â
They found you, not Percy. He didnât even have a clue until he woke up to Chiron in his cabin.
Percy had had his fair share of rude awakenings over the years, usually because of horrific demigod prophetic dreams, but the expression on Chironâs face immediately alerted Percy that something was wrong, even through his groggy haze.Â
âChiron?â he rasps, and he sits up as he rubs the sleep out of his eyes. He has to make sure heâs not still dreaming.Â
âIâm sorry to wake you, Percy,â he says. âBut I need you to come with me.âÂ
âWhatâs wrong?â he asks. âIs everyone okay? Is camp okay? Is there an invasion?âÂ
âNothing so ghastly,â Chiron says. Though his tone is a bit lighter, it still doesnât ease Percyâs concerns. âBut it does concern you.âÂ
âGreat,â Percy mumbles, and he pulls himself out of bed. Normally he would have the foresight to change, but a part of him is still worried that Christmas has come early and Kronos has already invaded the city.Â
So he follows Chironâwith all the sneaking around heâs done since getting to camp, itâs strange to be out this late and not have to worry about being eaten aliveâclad in flannel pajama pants, a Yankeeâs tee, and Converse he didnât get the chance to fully lace up.Â
âYouâd tell me if something was wrong,â Percy says, glancing up at him. âRight?âÂ
âOf course,â he nods. âI wouldnât classify this as something going wrong. Just⊠rather shocking.âÂ
âGreat,â he repeats. âAre you going to tell me?âÂ
Chiron is silent for a moment, and Percy frowns. âNow Iâm really worried.âÂ
âI suppose itâs best to rip the bandage off,â Chiron says. He stops right outside the Big House and lets out a sigh. âAn hour ago, a girl was found on the beach. She looked as if sheâd been washed ashore.âÂ
Percyâs frown deepens. âWhat? Godsâ is she okay?âÂ
âYes,â Chiron says. âI checked her over for injuries, but she only had some minor bruises. No water in her lungs, somehow.âÂ
âThatâs crazy,â he says. âHow could someone even wash up here? Even with demigodsâ donât we have protections against that?âÂ
âAll of this makes me believe there was some⊠divine intervention,â Chiron says slowly. âEspecially with who she is.âÂ
Percy crosses his arms. âYouâre making this sound like a huge deal. Who is she?â
âPercy,â Chiron says, soft but firm, âitâs your sister. Somehow, sheâs come back to life.âÂ
And for a second, all he can do is stare.Â
âWhat?âÂ
âI could never forget her face,â he says. âOr the presence of a child of Poseidon.âÂ
Percy shakes his head. âNo, Chironâ if this is a joke, itâs not funny.â He huffs a mirthless laugh and looks down at his hands. âAnd if this is a shitty dream, then itâs really shitty.âÂ
âPerseus, this is real,â he states.Â
Heâs still shaking his head. âHow can it be real? Sheâs deadâ sheâs been dead for years.â
âI donât know,â he admits. âMr. D has already gone back to Olympus to figure it out. But if I had to guess, your father decided to meddle.â
He wants to call it a lie. Honestly, he wants to punch Chiron for getting his hopes up about something like this. But deep down, Percy knows heâs telling the truth.Â
âCan I see her?â he asks. âIsâ is she okay? Does she know who she is?â
âIn time,â Chiron says. âI cannot be sure, but it doesnât look like she remembers anything from her life.âÂ
Percy shakes his head again. It doesnât feel real. Heâs imagined what it would feel like to meet you since the moment Luke told him about you, but he knew it could never happen.Â
But now, all that stands between Percy and his sister is a few doors.Â
âI want to see her,â he says.
âOf course,â Chiron nods. âI just need to make sure it wonât mess with her further. This isnât like Thalia coming back with the fleeceâthough I have suspicions, I canât be sure how this happened. It could be a very delicate matter.âÂ
âAs long as it doesnât hurt her more.âÂ
Chiron nods again and he opens the door to the Big House. He follows him up to his office door, then stops when Chiron gestures at the couch.Â
âI just need to discuss a few more things with her.âÂ
Percy nods wordlessly and sits down, then Chiron disappears into his office.Â
A million things are running through Percyâs mind, namely guilt.Â
Shouldnât he have been the one to find you?Â
Maybe it doesnât make sense, but itâs you.Â
Youâre his sister. Heâs always had a connection to you, even when you were goneâgods, the night after he found out you existed you appeared in his dreams. Percyâs spent almost every moment since he found out about you wishing you were still here, that he could meet you, and when it finally does happenâsomehow, because he still doesnât understand what the fuck went on for this to happenâheâs not even the one to find you? Heâs just asleep like every other night?
He huffs a sigh as he hunches over, his forearms on his knees. His leg bounces up and down at a rapid pace, moving his entire body with it, but this is one time he canât lay his ADHD to rest. Heâs more surprised he isnât up pacing the entire room for the hundredth time.Â
If Percy feels like this, he canât even imagine how you must feel. To come back for seemingly no reason with no memories, after four years in Elysium.Â
Luke said youâd been killed by a monster. You were buried like any other person.Â
You were gone.
But you just⊠came back. Â
He lets out another harried sigh and falls back against the couch. Heâs exhausted, but thereâs no chance of him being able to go back to sleep. Not with you around.Â
Suddenly, the door opens, and Percy instantly darts up from his seat. You walk out with Chiron and itâs almost surreal.
You look like all the pictures, all his dreams, just olderâmore mature. He wants to cry and scream and hug you all at once.Â
Your eyes widen slightly, and you glance at Chiron for a moment before you focus back on Percy.
âUhâ sorry,â he says, wincing a bit. He doesnât know how to act around you, not when he knows you but you donât know him. âI waited for you. I thought it would be good to have someone on the other side.âÂ
âThatâs really nice,â you murmur. âI⊠I see why. Word on the street is that youâre my brother.âÂ
Percy nods way too many times. âYeah. Uhâ yeah. Weâre both children ofââÂ
He pauses, his gaze moving past you to Chiron. He has to have explained all this to you, right?Â
âPoseidon,â you finish, and you let out a slightly shaky laugh. âChiron laid out all the basics.âÂ
âThis has all got to be really confusing,â he says. âI remember how lost I was when I first got to camp, and I didnât evenâŠâÂ
âDie?â you ask wryly. He nods again. He really canât finish any sentence around youâheâs so worried of saying the wrong thing and accidentally hurting you. Percy doesnât know how any of this works.
âItâs strange,â you admit. âI⊠I lived this whole life before this, and I donât even remember any of it.â
Percyâs heart clenches painfully. He doesnât know how heâs going to explain everything to you when you start remembering.Â
When you start remembering Luke.Â
âReally?â he asks. âThereâs nothing?â
You shake your head. âI have my name, but thatâs all. AndâŠâ
Percy frowns. âWhat?â
You pause for a moment before you shake your head again. âNothing. This is justâŠâ
âWeird?âÂ
You nod with a slight laugh. âYeah. To say the least.â
âIf it makes you feel better, youâre not the first person to come back to life,â Percy says. âUh, a girl named Thalia used to be a tree before she was turned back into a human.â
You frown. âWow.â
âWe can get to all of that some other day,â Chiron thankfully interrupts. âPercy, will you take her back to your cabin?â
âYouâre sure we wonât get eaten by the harpies?â Percy asks. âAello is out for my blood.â
âI promise,â Chiron says. He glances at you, your frown noticeably deeper, and he looks back at Percy. âPerhaps we should, ah, hold off on this sort of discussion. Until tomorrow, at least.â
âOf course,â Percy says. âSorry. You must be exhausted.âÂ
âA little,â you admit. âApparently coming back to life takes it out of you.âÂ
âCome back here first thing in the morning,â Chiron says. âWe have⊠quite a bit to talk about.âÂ
âThatâs an understatement,â you murmur.Â
Percy smiles a bit, and he gestures with his head for you to follow him. You do, and Chiron goes back into his office. He nabs a bag of ambrosia squares from an empty bedside as the two of you go through the infirmary just to be safe, and when he glances back at you he sees you frowning.Â
âAre you okay?â he asks. âDoes anything hurt?âÂ
âYouâre a Yankees fan?â you say instead.Â
Percy blinks, then he realizes youâre looking at his shirt. âUhâ yeah.â He chuckles. âIâm from New York, and my mom loves them, soâŠâ he tugs at his shirt. âI know you like the Red Sox. Sorry.â
âItâs okay,â you say. âWe canât all be perfect.âÂ
Percy canât help but smile. You died and came back to life, and you remember nothing but your name and your love for the Boston Red Sox.Â
âThat means you keep up with baseball, right?âÂ
âWhen I can,â he says. âWe donât really have technology out here.âÂ
âHave the Red Sox won a world series since Iâve been gone?âÂ
âThey won last year, actually.â
Your eyes widen and you instantly grin. âReally?â
He nods. âThey beat the Cardinals.â
âThatâ thatâs huge!â you exclaim. âOh my god, they broke the curse and I didnât get to see it? This is the worst thing thatâs ever happened to me!â
âYou know you died, right?â
âAnd look how well that worked out for me.â You shake your head. âI need to go to the library or something and find some footage.â
âAs much as I would love to do that,â Percy says, âwe have a few other things we have to focus on.â
You huff and shake your head. âFine. But as soon as we figure all this out, Iâm figuring out some way to see those games.âÂ
Percy chuckles. âI donât think anyoneâll deny you that.âÂ
âGood.âÂ
Silence settles over the two of you as you walk back to the Poseidon cabin, and Percy just feels awkward.Â
He always thought about what he would say to you if he finally got to see you again, and now youâre alive somehow and right next to him and he has no idea what to do.Â
âYouâre sure youâre not hurt?â Percy finally decides on. âChiron said you just washed up on shore.âÂ
âI feel surprisingly okay,â you say. âAll I remember is waking up at the bottom of the lake. I thought I was going to drown, so I kicked my way up, and then got to shore.â You shake your head. âSomehow, I didnât drown. My clothes werenât even wet. Iâve got to be the luckiest person out there.âÂ
âYouâre a child of Poseidon,â he says. âWe canât breathe underwater so we canât drown, and our clothes donât get wet unless we want them to.âÂ
âLike I said,â you incline your head, âluckiest person out there.âÂ
âI just donât get why youâre back,â Percy says. âDonât get me wrong, Iâm glad you are. I just donât understand how, or whyâ or why now.âÂ
You open your mouth to say something, but youâre not able to get any words out before a yawn interrupts it.Â
âMaybe thatâs a tomorrow problem,â you say.Â
âI think youâre right,â Percy says. He opens the door to the camp store and you follow him inside, but you frown.Â
âWhat is this?âÂ
âThe camp store,â he says. âYou donât really have anything, so I wanted to get you some things.âÂ
You just stare as he starts taking things. âYouâre just⊠stealing?âÂ
âJust a couple toiletries and some clothing,â he says. âThey wonât miss it.â He stashes it all in a Camp Halfblood tote bag and holds it out to you, and though youâre a bit hesitant, you still take it.Â
âThanks,â you say. âWe wonât get in trouble?âÂ
âI think everyone will cut you some slack for a while,â Percy says. âA guy did this for me my first day and it helpsâmakes you feel more at home.âÂ
You hum, and this time you open the door for Percy. âNice guy.âÂ
Percy swallows the sudden lump in his throat, trying to ignore the chill that trickles down his spine as he realizes the implications of his words.Â
âYeah,â Percy mutters. âHe was.âÂ
Eventually, the two of you get back to the Poseidon cabin. He opens the door for you and you slowly walk inside.Â
Again, itâs strange that youâre here. Itâs like if a piece of his history textbook suddenly came to life and started walking aroundâheâs heard so much about you, imagined what he thought would be an impossible meeting so many times, but now that itâs actually happening he doesnât know what to do.Â
And it hits even more as you walk over to a picture of yourself hanging on the wall, surrounded by a myriad of others.Â
Itâs one of many of you and Luke, him holding you close with an arm slung around your shoulder as you beam at the camera with the brightest smile imaginable. Before Luke got his scar, before you died, before he went off the deep end.Â
âI put a couple of your pictures up,â Percy rushes to explain, his throat feeling scratchy, âand a few of your old things. Asâ as a way to remember you.â
âI love it,â you say, and the tension dissolves in his shoulders when he sees your smile. It really is so much brighter in person. âIâ I canât believe I donât remember any of this.â
âWeâll figure out a way to get it back,â Percy says. âI promise.âÂ
âDonât make promises you canât keep,â you say idly as you continue to take all the pictures in. He canât imagine what it must feel like to see all these memories of a past life you have no recollection of.Â
âI donât,â he says. âWeâre gonna figure it out.â
Youâre silent for a while as you keep looking at them. Then you take one of the pictures off the wall, the one of you and Luke at a baseball game.Â
âLuke,â you murmur, as if you donât realize youâre saying it out loud. You blink, then you turn to Percy. âHis name is Luke, isnât it?â
He nods, almost in disbelief. You donât remember a damn thing about your old life but you know Lukeâs name.
How is Percy supposed to tell you what he did?Â
You laugh softly as you trail your nail over the edge. âWe mustâve been pretty close if I got him to go to a Red Sox game.â You look over at Percy. âDoes he go here too?â
After a moment, Percy shakes his head. âHeâ uh, he used to.â
âMakes sense,â you murmur, and you put the picture back on the wall. âI got the easy way out. Everyone else had to deal with the fallout.â
Percy frowns. âYou were killed by a monster. I donât think anyone considers that the easy way out.âÂ
âIt kinda was,â you say with a shrug. âIâ I donât remember much about it, but Chiron said I was in Elysium. There arenât any monsters down there, and there certainly arenât any responsibilities.â
âWell,â Percy sits down on his bed, âIâm glad youâre here. You donât know how many times Iâve imagined meeting you.âÂ
You chuckle. âI didnât know I was so popular.âÂ
âIâm serious,â he says. âPoseidon is one of the Big Three, and they made an oath not to have kids. I was the only Big Three kid in general when I got to campâwhen I found out about you, all I could think about was how badly I wanted to have a sister to talk about all of this with.âÂ
Your eyes soften, and you lean against his bed frame. âIâm sorry.âÂ
âWhat are you sorry about?âÂ
âIâ I donât know,â you say with a slight laugh. âI just feel bad that I couldnât be there for you.âÂ
âYouâre already doing a pretty good job at being a big sister,â Percy says wryly.Â
âThanks,â you say. âYouâre doing a pretty good job at being a younger brother.âÂ
Percy laughs and smiles, and you smile too. Heâs beginning to understand what Luke always said, about your presence embodying warmth. Heâs only been around you for a few minutes and he already feels better.Â
âIâve never had a brother before this,â you say. âSo there might be a couple speed bumps.âÂ
âWeâll get through them together,â Percy says. âBesides, I⊠I kind of always considered you my sister. Ever since I found out about you, even though you wereâŠâÂ
âDead?â you guess, and he winces. You chuckle a bit. âItâs still weird for me, too. Canât imagine what it must be like for all of you.âÂ
âWeird,â he says without really thinking. âReally weird. But Iâm thankful that youâre back.âÂ
You smile. âSo am I, Percy.âÂ
You let out another yawn, and you sit down on the bed across from him. âGod, what time is it?âÂ
Percy glances at the clock in the corner. â3:34.âÂ
You whistle. âI really chose a great time to come back, huh?âÂ
He chuckles, and he kicks off his shoes as gets up to turn the lights off. âI think some sleep would do us both some good.âÂ
You nod and do the same. As you lay back, one hand behind your head, you continue to look around the cabin.Â
âAre these your band posters?âÂ
He shakes his head as he sits back down. âTheyâre yours, actually, but youâve got good taste. I love Pearl Jam.âÂ
âI used to have good taste, you mean,â you say wryly.Â
âHey,â he says. âI meant what I told you. Weâre gonna get your memories back.âÂ
âHow are you so sure?âÂ
âIâve done a lot of impossible things,â Percy says. âAnd so have you, from what Iâve heard. Itâs kind of the Poseidon kid way, honestly.âÂ
âYouâll have to teach me some things, then.âÂ
âAnd when you get your memory back, youâll have to do the same,â he says.Â
You smile and nod. âDeal.âÂ
Percy smiles too, and he lays down. âYou really should try and get some sleep. Chiron wasnât joking when he said we have a lot to talk about.â He huffs a slight laugh. âWhatever the reason is for you coming back, I guarantee thereâs gonna be some people upstairs that are mad about it.âÂ
Your eyebrows rise. âUpstairs?âÂ
âOlympus,â he says. âThe gods donât really like things happening out of their control.âÂ
You hum, and for a moment thereâs nothing but silence and the sound of both your breathing. Itâs a little strange having someone else here other than Tyson, but heâs thankful for it.Â
âWhatâs gonna happen to me?â you ask. Thereâs an edge of fear in your voice, and Percy frowns.Â
âNothing.âÂ
âDonât lie.âÂ
âNothing is going to happen,â he repeats. âIâm not going to let anything happen. The gods have already messed with your life enoughâthey donât get to do it again.âÂ
Percy half-expects to hear the sound of thunder echoing across camp, but the silence continues. Maybe Zeus isnât listening in on him for once, or maybe he just expects the disrespect at this point.Â
âI really am the luckiest person,â you say. âIâve got someone like you looking out for me.âÂ
âYou were looking out for me when you were gone,â he says. âYou might not remember, but I could feel it. So Iâm just repaying the favor.âÂ
Again, silence. Itâs temporarily interrupted by the sound of sheets shifting, then you speak.Â
âIâm really glad I got to meet you, Percy,â you murmur.Â
He canât help but smile, and he tries to ignore the tears beginning to spring in his eyes. He has no idea why youâre backâno idea what this could mean. Maybe your dad did bring you back, maybe itâs a bizarre case like Thalia, maybe you play a part in something that they donât even know about yet and it's nothing but bad news.
But for once in his life, Percyâs not going to question it.Â
Youâre alive and youâre here.Â
For now, thatâs all he needs.Â
âMe too,â he whispers.
omg omg i would LOVVVEEE if like [reader] and luke were dating behind percyâs back cuz of how sassy he would be n stuff but after like a date or kiss from luke the reader would gush about it to either annabeth, grover, or clarisse and one of them tells percy by accident during a convo and then percy like goes up to reader and confronts the reader about it and like scolds the reader and give them a whole lecture about how luke isnât the right guy then luke overhears and like joins in <333
i love this idea!!
luke castellan x daughter of poseidon!reader
warnings: persassy (once again), fluff, mention of kissing, ignorance of the plot of the show for the sake of my happiness
nobody: me gaslighting myself into thinking i could fix luke:
You and your boyfriend had an agreement. Your relationship was private. It wasnât necessarily a secret, but it was private.
This was a conclusion you came to before Percy arrived at camp, before you knew you had a brother. At first, you didnât care much if he figured it out.
That was until you realized what a sassafras he was.
Percy was always sassing you about chores, about activities, and especially about camp boys.
You thought it was cute in the beginning, your little brother being protective over you, but then it became a real nuisance.
âY/n, stay away from the Ares boys, I donât like them.â
âY/n, donât date an Apollo guy, heâd write you some crappy poetry.â
âY/n, for the love of gods, stay away from the Dionysus twins, I never want to have Mr. D as a relative.â
These were the types of things you would hear throughout the day as Percy got to know the other campers better.
You thought it better if you kept a low profile when you were around Luke, at least until Percy calmed down a little.
Most of the older campers knew about your relationship, but they were used to it and rarely talked about it.
âHaving marriage problems?â Annabeth asked you one day during arts and crafts, where you were both about to give up on your ugly collaborative birdhouse.
âWhat? Iâm not married,â you said, trying to fix a particularly garish looking bird.
She set her paintbrush down, officially proving she was over it. âObviously. I mean Luke. I noticed you havenât been around each other as much.â
You could tell she was a little worried. She wouldnât be asking if she wasnât. Annabeth had known you and Luke longer than any other campers, and she looked up to both of you. Plus, she always wanted to know about your experience with romance.
âItâs not what you think, Annabeth. Weâre really fine,â you said. âIn fact, just last night, he took me out on the dock.â
Your nightly meetups with Luke had always been a thing, but had become more frequent as of late.
âAnd?â Annabeth prompted.
âAnd, we hung out.â You were now furiously painting over the entire bird you failed to fix.
âYou mean you made out,â she said, giving you a knowing look.
âWell, yeah, but I didnât think you were interested in that part,â you said. âNow pick up that paintbrush, missy. Iâm not doing this whole thing myself.â
Annabeth reluctantly dipped the brush in some blue paint, looking like she wanted more details about your date.
Private means private, you thought dismissively.
At campfire, you discovered that private didnât mean private. You were sitting alone when Percy plopped down next to you. You frowned because you were saving that spot for Luke.
âAnnabeth has just told me something very interesting,â he said, glaring at the spot where Luke stood, talking to one of his brothers.
âWhat would that be, Perce?â you said absentmindedly.
âApparently Luke was macking on you last night.â He made a sound to imitate vomiting.
You grimaced. âPlease never say that word again.â
âSo? Is it true or not true?â
You sighed. No point in denying it now. âItâs true.â
Percy somehow managed to look even more disgusted. âEw, why him?â
You rolled your eyes. âOh, gee, I donât know, maybe because Iâve known him for years, heâs kind, strong, and handsome. Wouldnât you think that had something to do with it?â
âOh, gods, forget I even asked,â Percy said, retching. âI just think you could do better. Look at all of these lovely candidates. Apollo guys are poets.â
âI thought that was too cringe for you.â
He ignored you and went on, âA Hephaestus guy could forge you some nice jewelry, and Athena guys are smart. You deserve a smart guy. Not Luke, no, he doesnât have any good qualities like that.â
You noticed a figure approaching you over Percyâs shoulder, and you tried your best to hide the amused smile threatening to break across your face as Luke came to a stop behind him, waiting for the right moment to interrupt.
âAll in all, Y/n, I think Lukeâs a pretty bad guy for you. You should really reconsider.â
âOh, Iâm a bad guy, am I?â Luke finally spoke up, smirking as Percy slowly turned around to see him peering down at him.
âNot like a bad guy- just, you know, not right for my sister,â Percy said, his confidence leaving him.
âWhat makes me not right for her?â Luke asked, clearly loving the reaction he was getting.
âI- uh- you know,â Percy stammered.
âOh, knock it off, Luke. Leave the poor kid alone,â you said, failing to hide your laughter.
âThat sound is music to my ears,â Luke said seriously. Jeez, he was really laying it on thick.
Percyâs face returned to the look of disgust. âIâll be leaving now,â he excused himself, hurrying off to where Grover and Annabeth were sitting on the other side of the fire. You could still see him glaring at Luke as he sat down next to you, wrapping his arm around your shoulders.
You leaned into him, relishing in the combined warmth of the fire and his body heat. âWhat do you think? Am I getting sassed out tomorrow?â Luke asked, looking down at you.
âNo, he looked pretty grossed out. Iâm hoping he just avoids the topic altogether,â you said, trailing your fingers over the fabric of his shirt.
âWe both know thatâs not going to happen,â he concluded, smiling as he pressed a soft kiss to your temple.
hey!! I was wondering if you could do a Poseidon fem reader x Jason Grace blurb or hcs about their relationship with each other, but she has a pet cat that she is obsessed with and Jason is just admiring the two while his gf is treating her cat like a baby and saying it our kid? If that makes sense??
â with two cats in the yard (life used to be so hard) â
jason grace x daughter of poseidon âĄ
a/n this is my favorite request i have ever gotten, whoever sent this in ilysm & ik u said blurb but i got carried away
tw none
. Ęâ âč đŸ . Ęâ âč
âWhereâs the baby?â Y/N spoke right as Jason opened the door to his cabin.
He laughed, âsheâs asleep,â he let her in, softly kissing her cheek as she entered.
He had been spending the past two days with y/nâs cat while she had to go on a quest.
She smiled as she softly brushed her index finger along the catâs forehead, whispering, âmommyâs home.â The tabby let out a small noise while she opened her eyes. Just like an infant would, the cat reached up her front paws, leaning up on y/n.
She picked up the cat, who made herself comfortable on her ownerâs shoulder, âdid you miss me?â
âAre you asking me or her?â Jason remarked.
Y/N rolled her eyes, âmaybe both.â
He grinned as he stepped closer to her, âI think I speak for both of us when I say, I missed you.â
She giggled, leaning up to kiss her boyfriend, âgood, you know I was hoping you two would bond while I was gone.â
He gently petted the back of the cat, âyeah, weâre best friends now.â
Y/N held the cat in front of her to look at her face, âdid you have fun with daddy?â
The boy choked on his spit, âdaddy?â
âYes, daddy,â she faced the cat towards him, âthis is our daughter.â
He smiled, âIâd hope that our future kids have better names than Purrmaid.â
âHey!â She pulled the cat away, âI named her when I had just gotten claimed,â she defended, âand thatâs Madame Purrmaid of the Atlantic to you.â
âOh gods, thatâs even worse.â
âI was twelve!â
The cat meowed.
She handed Purrmaid to Jason, âtell her youâre sorry.â
He grabbed the cat, cradling her, âdaddyâs sorry for making fun of your name.â He went to let her, but she swatted his hand, leaving a scratch.
âSheâs mad at you.â
âShe is not,â he went to pet her again, instead getting scratched once more, âshe might be.â He placed her on the ground before she swatted one of his legs, âwhat did I do?!â
His girlfriend cackled, âsheâs going through a phase.â He exaggeratedly frowned, she giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck, âitâs okay, I still love you.â
He held her waist, âpromise?â
âPromise,â she reached up to kiss him again, âcan I crash in your bed? Iâm exhausted.â
âThatâs what itâs there for,â he replied.
She sluggishly crawled under his covers. Purrmaid followed, laying on y/nâs chest.
Jason laid down next to the two, âis that comfortable?â
âI canât breathe, but itâs okay.â She grabbed his hand, âyou okay?â
âIâm fine, theyâre small,â he comforted, âunlike Purrmaid.â
âYou take that back!â
âI will once you stop feeding her your leftover lunch.â
âShe gets hungry!â
âI donât think cats are supposed to eat broccoli, my love.â
âHmph,â she looked away for a second before turning back to the bright blue eyes, âwe should get another one.â
He smiled, âyou wanna?â
âWe can get a boy, and you can name him!â She planned out.
âI wonât be naming him Thun-purr.â
âAww, thatâd be so cute though.â
âFine,â he kissed her forehead, âIâll name him whatever you want me to.â
âItâll depend on what he looks like,â she replied, âbecause if itâs a tabby, heâll be Harry, if heâs light, heâll be Niall-â
âI take it back, youâre not naming him after One Direction.â
She lightly hit his shoulder, âI was joking, loser.â
âSure, you were.â
âSeriously, what would you name a cat?â She softly questioned.
He sighed, âIâve always kind of wanted to get a cat named, uh,â he hesitated, âdon't make fun of me.â
âBabe, my cat is named Madame Purrmaid of the⊠I can't even finish.â
He chuckled, twirling his fingers in her hair, âfine, I wanted a cat to name Cannoli.â
She grinned, âthatâs adorable!â
âThanks,â he embarrassedly looked down while still smiling, âthere used to be this bakery in New Rome where they had the worldâs best cannolis and one time I saw this giant orange cat walking by it and I always thought thatâs exactly the kind of cat I wanted.â
âThen you shall have your very own Cannoli,â she declared in a British accent, âIâve actually never had a cannoli.â âNext time I head to New Rome, you're coming with me,â he smiled, âyou and Purry.â
âLike that was a question,â she replied, petting the feline.
He breathily laughed, âdo you want anything to eat?â
âIâm kinda craving a cannoli.â
âYouâve never had one,â he responded, confused.
âYeah, but you love them so much, they must be good,â she added, âyou have good taste.â
âI do?â
âYou like me, I think thatâs enough proof.â
âThatâs a good point.â
She opened her arms, âcome give mommy some sugar,â she said using a strange Boston accent.
âY/N,â he rubbed his temples, âwhat are you talking about?â
âI don't know, I haven't slept in 20 hours.â
âHere,â he moved the blanket further over her and the cat, âget some sleep and Iâll get you something to eat, okay?â
She nodded as he began to walk away, âwait!â
He turned around, âyeah?â
âI love you.â
He grinned, he jogged back over to her, pressing a kiss to her forehead, âI love you, sweetheart.â
âAhem?â
âSorry,â he put his hand on Purrmaid, âlove you, too.â
Good morning, I loved your stories about Leo x reader (especially where she is the daughter of Poseidon) you helped me with a story that made me angry about Leo and reader (and calypso about homewrecker, I don't think Leo is like that especially because of his dad )a question how I read if someone tries to flirt with their beloved mermaid (reader daughter of poseidon) :3
babes I am literally sobbing!!!! /pos honestly calypso would be a homewrecker if anyone wanted her. which no one does lol. and you are completely fucking correct our beloved Leo would NEVER. Esperanza raised him WAY better than that. if someone tried to homewreck him he would legitimately laugh in their face.
aaaaaaah leo x daughter of poseidon/mermaid!reader is a personal fave of mine <3 the vibe is sinkin in by cody simpson. one thing you and Percy both inhereted from your dad is extreme levels of both sass and loyalty. Leo knows this. Annabeth knows this. everyone knows this. apparenlty everyone except some douchebag frat bro playing beer pong with his buddies when you came back from swimming. (thankfully you were gifted something from your dad that lets you keep your land legs and only switch to h2o just add water mode when you want to. it's a gorgeous pair of anklets decorated with pearls, sea glass, starfish, and sand dollars.) once you get close enough to the shore, you say the word to switch to your land legs (terr) and feel your tail, your glimmering opalescent scales dissolve into sea foam. once you break the surface and walk up the beach to Leo, you hand him all the shells and cool rocks you found. you're always giving him little trinkets like that but it makes his heart jump every time. Leo tucks them carefully into his tool belt, and kisses you on the cheek before walking away to get you something cold to drink.
frat bro sees you in you, glittering and glowing wiht the ocean behind you, and he's just... drawn in. you have a very siren like aura, so you're pretty used to this. he uses all of his weak attempts to rizz you up, but you remain painfully unimpressed the whole time. when Leo gets back, he just laughs.
"I gotta hand it to you, man," he says to the frat bro as he hands you your favorite drink, "you got good taste."
the guy is very confused, but you're both just biting back a laugh. Leo knows why this guy is even still hanging around you, it's because you were waiting for him to get back so you can watch Leo do what he does best - roast the living shit out of guys who keep trying to flirt with you in the most hilarious and creative ways possible. it's always delightful, and once he really gets going you can't help but jump in with some classic child of poseidon sass. roasting people truly is your and leo's love language.
-claw clips made out of seashells.
-definitely collects those giant blue shark teddies from Ikea and named them after all your friends.
-horses around CHB come up to you all the time. they're very polite and call you 'boss' or 'misses in charge' but sometimes they mistake your hair for straw and try and take a bite. it's not their fault.
-wear the newest edition of the orange shirts the Aphrodite have been tye-dying into personalised colours after Nico complained there was no black option. probably blue [of course] or cream or maybe greens and pinks.
-Percy get's a cabinmate. Yay! now he has to clean up after himself.
-could definitely fight with throwing ninja star things shaped like starfishes with the little bumps on them too. if they break in half the celestial bronze just grows back.
authorâs note: i really enjoyed writing this ngl! also i have a faceclaim for readerâs mom, jessica matthews is portrayed by candice patton.
Born from the same father but different mothers, your sibling bond with Percy was unbreakable, certainly unconditional. Your mothers were very close, growing up as best friends from when they were teenagers, accomplishing every achievement together for the sake of you and Percyâs life.
Of course, your moms fell in love, hosting a small spring wedding when you were 10 and Percy was 6 years old.
So when Sally had to move again, your mom didnât ask questions and instead packed your bags, placing them in the car and driving to the airport. A loving family of four was maintained by dark secrets that cost lives.
With everything going on, with the upbringing of your heritage, both of your mothers went through thick and thin. Developing from friends into lovers hardly changed anything, presumably their love maintained massively for themselves and shared children.
It was a rainy day, you and Percy had just been expelled from Yancy. Nancy bullied your brother so you reacted like how any big sister would and punched her before she flew into the nearby fountain, completely drenched in water. That little defense mechanism got both you and your little brother expelled from Yancy indefinitely as you two took a train back to your parentsâ apartment.
You two apologized profusely to your moms, but they remained nonchalant, telling you two to pack a bag because you were visiting your residential cabin.
Something was wrong, extremely wrong and you felt it in your gut as soon as you stepped foot into the unkept cabin. From the moment your mom became sorrowful and honest, retelling the story of how she met your father, you knew something was up. Sadly, you just didnât know that itâd be life-changing for you both.
Interrupted by rapid knocks on the cabin door made you jump a little in surprise and your mom, Sally, went to open the door. It was Percyâs bestfriend, Grover. He was soaked from the rain and began to blabber on to your moms, incoherently talking about revealing the big secret.
âGroverâŠâ Percy speaks, waringly looking down at his friendâs lower body, or rather the lack thereof. Shockingly enough, his lower body wasnât one of a humanâs but one of the legs of an animal, specifically a goat.
âWhat?â Grover snapped, turning his head to the siblings, hitting his hoove against the wooden floor.
âGrover, why is there half a goat in your pants?â
âDid your mom fuck a goat or something?â The question had to be asked, but it yet remained to be answered.
Doubled in confusion when Grover, Percyâs best friend was also your satyr protector, dedicating to getting both of you at Camp Half-Blood safely. When your mothersâ actually revealed the truth about your fatherâs real identity, you were appalled, to say the least. You assumed he was a deadbeat and couldnât care less about his kids, and you were absolutely right. Only now his identity expanded in further detail, making him out to be a god, one of the most powerful gods there ever was. Therefore making you and Percy, forbidden children in both worlds, are continually being hunted by monsters, who strive to see your demise.
âDo you believe this, Y/N?â Percy turns to you, mouth open in bewilderment.
âRight now, I donât know what to believe anymore.â You truthfully spoke.
âDid you know Iâm 24?â Grover asked you innocently.
You and Percy shared the same shocked expression, âWait? What?â
Grover winces, staring back at the two adults in the car, âOut of curiosity, what exactly did you tell them?â
âWe were getting there!â Your moms shouted simultaneously at Grover.
Grover nods his head, leaning back into the seat.
âMoonlightâŠlisten to me.â your mom looks at you through the mirror as your gaze hesitantly meets hers. âYou and Percy are forbidden children, monsters are going to attack you every day, this camp can protect you both.â
âWhy canât you and Sally come with us then?â you bargained with her, tears forming in your eyes. You couldnât imagine, much less experience your life without your mother and Sally. The same women who nurtured you since you were babies and taught you everything you knew. You refused to give up on them, everything they did was to protect and love you, and now it was your turn.
Sally starts to talk, eyes stuck on the road, âWe humans are not allowed there. Only demigods like you two.â
âBut we donât wanna leave you two.â Percy persisted.
âYouâre our moms.â
âYouâre gonna have to, that Minotaur isnât gonna stop until he kills both of you.â
All of a sudden, a collision hit the car with enough brute force to send the car off the road and everything went black. It was all so quick, the collision, the swiveling of the car and landing on the side of the road, far from bypassers to rescue.
The rain pattering against the car turned into a heavy rainpour as everyone in the car, hanging upside down with the seat belt anchoring them, remained still, all unconscious.
After a while, the dulling pain in your head sharply woke you up, being the first to recover from the crash. Holding your head in pain as you slowly opened your eyes, feeling the blood trickle from your head, surveying your surroundings as you saw Percy and Grover still unconscious. Quickly unbuckling your seatbelt, you got out of your seat, repeating the same action to your younger brothers.
One by one, you carefully got everyone from the car as they began to wake up. A growl from the distance urges you to move faster as you help your other mom, Sally, get out of the damaged car.
Sally, Percy, and Grover were recovering, standing on their feet, checking for any injuries and your mom was the last one who needed rescuing.
âMomâŠâ you shake her but her body is motionless as the tears well up in your eyes.
You felt Sallyâs arm pushing you back, sending you into Percyâs and Groverâs embrace as you nervously observed.
âCome on, come on, JessâŠâ Sally murmurs, kneeling down, searching for a pulse. âYou gotta survive, we have children together, we canât lose you right now.â
âIs she okay?â Percy chirps up, deciding to speak for you.
You found everything incomprehensible around you, your senses became deafening and a high-pitched ringing in your head matched the loud heart beating in your chest.
When Sally stayed silent, it only worsened your anxiety, âMom, is she okay?!â Percy speaks again, adding some base in his voice yet his tone slightly wavers.
âShe has a fading pulseâŠâ Sally whispers, sparing a sad glance at you and quickly turning back to Jessica, âItâs decreasing rapidly,â
Dropping to the muddy slippery ground on your knees, tears quickly filling the brim of your eyes, threatening to fall as you moved closer to her.
âMommyâŠâ you cradle her face into your chest, saddened by her face, eyes closed as blood trickles down her forehead.
âWe can revive her, right!â Your voice cracks, whipping your head to Sally, âTell me we can revive her!â
âY/NâŠâ Sally sighs deeply, trying to contain her own tears. You turn around, looking down at your mother, resting on your lap, body motionless yet her face looks peaceful.
âNo! We- I can save her. We can do heart-to-heart compressions,â you shake your head, starting to do heart-to-heart compressions. âWhy isnât she waking up? Mommy, this isnât funny anymore now, you have to wake up and help us. Please I canât do this without you, I canât do this whole new demigod thing without you.â your voice was dry, as you leaned down, blowing air into her mouth, hoping for a miracle to occur.
You didnât truly believe in miracles, but for your mother, youâd start believing it. Right now, you would do whatever it took to bring her back even if it meant wishing on the impossible.
âWe didnât do plenty of things yet, I wanted you and Sally to meet my first girlfriend, attend my graduation, be there when I move out and eventually get married, and get grandkids from Percy because we both know Iâm not going through that torture.â
Your senses became intensely heightened, catching onto Groverâs whisper to Sally, ignoring him as you spoke up.
âI refuse to leave her alone, she isnât dead, just having some problems waking up and getting a pulse back.â You were in extreme denial, âCome on, mum, you focus on her face, giving her air and Iâll do her chest,â you beckoned Sally forward.
âSweetheartâŠsheâs alreadyâŠ.gone.â
âSheâs my mom and Percyâs mom, your wife. She wasnât supposed to die this early. If all youâre gonna do is stand there and be useless, donât bother talking to me.â It wasnât intentional to snap at your other mom, but your emotions were driving you crazy and brazen.
âYouâre the sun to my moon, Mommy, I canât shine when youâre not there with me.â You sobbed. Despite being physically exhausted, you werenât giving up on trying to revive your mom, she would have never given up on you so you would stop trying until you had something, anything; a pulse, a gasp, her eyes shooting up. âRememberâŠâ You weakly asked, holding onto the moon-shaped necklace on your neck, staring at your momâs sun-shaped necklace.
The sky crackled with slight thunder as the rain poured down heavier. Finally understanding the meaning of your nickname, you sobbed desperately until the broken cracks of your voice gave out.
There was no sunshine without her moonlight, always them being in a pair, nothing without the other. Sadly, you lost your sunshine, darkening your moonlight to its deepest depths, harvesting it into something vengeful and heartless. Something that even scared you to a certain extent, like this was another new side flourishing because of the horrible circumstances.
âHold up, is Y/N doing that?â Percy quietly asks Grover.
You rested your mom on the ground, ignoring the cold rainpour.
âSheâs goneâŠâ Sally cries, grabbing your arm and pushing you into her body for a hug. You cried into the hug, tightening your grip as your wails echoed throughout the forest. Maybe this was all a nightmare, where youâd wake up and relax in reality. This was the time that your mom needed to wake you up and reassure you that she was right there, staying with you and protecting you.
Your chest clenched against your rib cage, devastation wracked throughout your entire body as the tears relentlessly spilled out.
âBut she- she canât be gone!â You hiccup, eyes glossing over with fresh tears, feeling another arm snuggle around your side.
âI know, sweetheart. Iâm so sorry,â she caressed your face.
âWhat kind of demigod I am, if I was blessed with all these supernatural powers, canât even save my Mom from death? What kind of daughter am I to just stand by and watch her own mother die? I donât want this demigod life anymore, please take it all away if it meant my mother is coming back, to me, to home.â
âDonât you ever say that again, you did everything you could, your perseverance is one of your strongest qualities that Jessica adored very much. She wouldnât want you to doubt yourself like this nor would I,â Sally reassures you, resting a thumb on your cheek, âOur beautiful daughter, sheâs so proud of you, I want you to know that.â
Your eyes were puffy and red from tears as you listened to your motherâs words of encouragement and reassurance.
Much to your dismay, another loud roar broke the semi-family grievance, reminding them of the harsh reality.
âWe have to go now!â Grover hastily urges.
âIâm not leaving my mom here like this,â you point to her figure on the ground.
âWe wonât, I promise you, sweetie. Iâll give her a proper burial, but right now we have to go!â Her tone was urgent as she quickly scanned the dark forest with the illumination from the car light.
You hurriedly rushed towards your motherâs still figure on the muddy ground, leaning down.
âGoodbye, Mom,â you whisper hoarsely, kissing her forehead for the last time. You stared down at her neck, gazing at the sunlight necklace she wore and yanked it off, and shoved the meaningful jewelry into your back pocket. Your heart broke again, realizing she canât respond back, despite being in extreme denial.
Unfortunately, that was the last time you saw your moms, one died in your arms and the other sacrificed herself for her childrenâs safety.
The pain and suffering became a dangerous mix of anger and hatred directed at the Minotaur.
Groverâs statements fall on deaf ears, partially drowned out by the heavy rainfall. âY/N and Percy come on, weâre almost there.â you glance at your blonde brother who holds the same expression on his face. You were going to avenge your mothers, and you didnât care if you died trying. This monster had already taken your worlds away, so you had nobody else to lose.
Grabbing the pen from your pocket, holding it out, and witnessing it transform into a golden sword at will.
The fight with the Minotaur was brutal and intense, alongside the heavy downpour of rain attempted to slow down the intensity of this fight. Despite double-teaming the monster, he resisted surrender, determined to win and kill you both. Surprisingly, you gained the agility to climb onto his back while Percy distracted him.
Somehow, you gained the ultimate advantage with the lighting sword in your hand and stabbed the monster in its eye, ignoring his roar of pain. If anything its pain only further encouraged you to continue.
Too full of adrenaline, you grab his two horns, gripping them and pulling them out with your utmost strength. A new sudden strength you just obtained. Gasping in shock was quickly outlived when your sword slipped out of your hand and dropped onto the muddy ground, disappearing from your eyesight. Stumbling onto his feet, inflicted by the pain, you groaned, gripping the monster by his rough skin as he attempted to shake you off.
âPercy the sword!â You yelled at him. Your brother throws the sword upwards as you catch the weapon.
You stab the monster in the neck, wincing at his loud screeches, but continue to stab his neck. Once the monster was deemed weak enough, you sliced the sword right through his neck, seizing the opportunity of successfully killing it.
This was all this stupid monsterâs fault. If it hadnât chased after you or slammed itself into the car, your mom would be alive. If it didnât have such a bloodthirst for demigods, Sally, your mum would still be alive. Alive. Alive. Alive. You just wished your moms were alive, to see you mature into such a courageous daughter to avenge their deaths.
Soon enough, the monster staggered on its feet and its body began to disintegrate into black dust before your eyes.
âY/N!â The voice becomes disoriented as you stumble on the ground, two arms catching you as you faint, everything fading away into a black abyss.
